Sonic PSP; Sonic Mega Collection 2

A listing over at gamestop.com reveals that a Sonic game is in the works for Sony's PSP. The genre is listed as "Action, Adventure, Racing." It has a November release date and a $39.99 price tag.

In other Sonic news, word has it that the latest issue of Play magazine reveals that a Sonic Collection 2 is in the works for Nintendo's GameCube. Sonic CD and Sonic The Fighters are just two of the many games to be included in the collection. We can't confirm this, as we haven't seen the magazine, so if you have the latest Play, go ahead and let us know by posting a comment below.

Sonic PSP listing on Gamestop (no information there really, but there you go)

I was going to post this in the Gamecube forum, but I think the PSP information is worth posting too. To derive discussion from this, what would you like to see in Sonic PSP? Also, what games would you like to see included in Sonic Mega Collection 2?

Myself, I'm not sure what I'd like to see in the PSP version since I have no intention of getting one, but they could do worse than do a new version of Sonic Adventure or Sonic Heroes for it, or even go back to the 2D versions (it seems like I mention the 2D thing every time I mention Sonic, but it was just so much better then...).

For Sonic Mega Collection 2, I'd like to see Sonic Fighters (never played), Sonic R (again, never played), Knuckles Chaotix (once again, never played), Sonic CD (masterpiece, possibly the best 2D Sonic game and sorely missing from the previous Mega Collection) and then if they REALLY want to make my day they can add some non-Sonic games that Sonic Team have done, like NiGHTS (never played but supposedly absolutely fantastic) and Burning Rangers (brilliant game, I was sad the other day when I realised I'd sold it).

Wow, if they released that I'd buy it in a second. I've always been dying to play Sonic CD forever, plus some I've never even heard of...

Hope upon all hope that is true, but kinda hope the PSP game doesn't surface otherwise I may be forced to shell out for the console, which I re-heally can't afford.

Man I'd love to play nights. Has anyone played it here?

well this sucks.

Luckily, we get sonic DS!!!

I'm hoping SMC2 will feature a GBA-GC link up so that you can play them on your TV using the GBA as a controller (it's annoying having to use the 3D stick or having to reach down to the D-pad). Also I hope it's got some better bonus material then the original!

As for the PSP version, I doubt it'll be a new game. Perhaps a collection of the GBA games? Or more likely Sonic Adventure?

Well it's not really my story, since I copied it off a website, so you're better off asking those in the link if you want to just copy it, or just re-writing your own story. Remember, the Mega Collection 2 is a rumour for now that hasn't been confirmed yet, as nobody posted a comment about the Play magazine on the website.

I'm not too bothered about PSP getting a Sonic game really, because the PSP version will probably be a generic 3D Sonic game, while the DS will get either a 2D or 3D one that's innovative in some way. Good old Sega.

PSP version: if it turns out great then it might persuade me to get a PSP... maybe.

SMC2: I'd get it, although I do own practically every Sonic game already - I'm never one to turn down a compilation. I wonder about Sonic CD though, I wonder if itwill have the Japanese/European music or the American music. I know the Japanese/European music is excelent because I've got it, but I heard the American version's music isn't very good, and in the Sonic CD video thats on the first SMC, thats the American music... Hmmm...

I hope theres some old sega classics like streets of rage in there too btw what is Sonic The Fighters?

SONIC CD that was a class game. smc2 what a game that would be. the psp sonic game doesnt even intrest me.

I am hopefully getting a PSP, so any Sonic compilations are greatly appreciated to me. I really want to play the relatively unknown ones like; Sonic CD, Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic Jam etc.

Sonic CD really isn't all that good compared with the others so those of you who haven't got it, you're not missing much, really.

Sonic Jam is a retro pack. There's no point including it, unless you mean the 3D world thing.

Note this won't be called Sonic MEGA collection as most of the games there were for the MEGA drive. I seem to recall Cubed-3 mentioning a Sonic GEMS collection.

Sonic on the PSP sounds more like wishful thinking. No announcement has been made.

Yea, the 3D world one. They should start to include some Saturn games, good ones i mean.

I hate to say that I have no real love for sonic, 2D or 3D. I've given all the 2D games a go (all the mainstream ones at least) and, while they were good, I didn't think they were that great.

I quite liked Sonic adventure 2 for the Dreamcast though!

ok the i will do that but still if it is true i wouldn't mind really since i'm getting a psp anyway but the ds i must better the psp is really just a multimeda system.
and if they ahve sonic jam init that would be great it looks good.
