The Walt Disney Company is a juggernaut in entertainment and media, and trying to encompass the entire vision into a single videogame is a task that has had many variations. From the highly lauded Kingdom Hearts series, to the recent Disney Infinity releases, when the Disney properties come together in a joining of the worlds, magical things happen. It is, thus, fitting that its latest sequel to the original 3DS hit, Disney Magical World 2, contains all of the magic and excitement of the cartoon world.
While the first iteration of this magical world introduced the majestic sights of Castleton, the sequel has six Disney-inspired worlds to explore. Lilo & Stitch, Frozen, Snow White and The Little Mermaid join the two returning worlds of Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh. The aim of the game is to collect stickers, and they are given when the main character has completed set tasks. Collecting the stickers will yield new worlds to open up, while also unlocking new episodes that continue the overall story.
Disney Magical World 2 features a wide cast of characters from every reach of the Disney universe, ones that yield a plethora of quests to be completed. Quests take form in side missions that are given by the various characters, which change daily, while main worlds contain a range of episodes that unlock depending on the amount of stickers that have been collected.
The main staple characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Goofy, reside in Castleton and are neighbours to the playable character, in addition to Chip & Dale, Scrooge McDuck and his three mischievous grandnephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie, while Yen Sid resides in his magical tower. In addition to owning a house, players can even decorate it with a range of items and wallpaper spreads that are themed to a wide amount of Disney owned licenses. It can have a Mickey Mouse-inspired theme to it, or it could have the nature theme of The Hundred Acre Wood, while the Three Little Pigs can decorate the house exterior.
Players can dress up their character in costumes also inspired by the Disney properties, while running their very own café. How the café interior looks, and what the staff's uniform is, as well as what food to offer, is up to the player. Running the café is quite fun, and if the patrons are also having a good time, a party can be thrown! A Disney character or two may even appear for the party, with which to have photos taken with on the 3DS.
Come and check out this magical world of Disney when it releases this year on 14th October for North America and Europe, while Australian players will be able to purchase it on 15th October. Design the house, run a cafe, while also growing plants and food, all while trying to assist the residents of Disney Magical World 2 with their tasks. A full review will be coming in the near future.
