Pok (Nintendo DS) Preview

It was inevitable that at some point in time Pok

As racing games go, they are pretty standard affairs; go faster than your opponent and maker sure you cross the finishing line first. No real great strategy, but like a certain Ridge Racer game, Pok

Some check points are located on islands off shore, and since electric mice tend to dislike water, alternate methods of reaching the islands must be used, either by hitching a ride in a balloon or jumping on the back of Lapras and using it to ferry you to the island. While onboard the Lapras the same rub techniques apply as before, balloon rides can be sped up by popping the balloons and letting Pikachu fall. This makes navigating a tad difficult so should only be tried when dry land is near. The falling does carry some nasty consequences and despite the bottom screen zooming out to show the island and the top screen showing when you are safely over it, letting Pikachu fall onto solid ground results in a flat rat. No death, but a whining squeak and time loss, means it is increasingly difficult to get back into the lead when you do not land properly; so you will always need to look out for soft marsh land or swamps. The effect of a fall can be removed by rubbing the stylus, however is something that should be avoided if you wish to win.

Nice work Nick. I don't personally go for all these Pok

Good writing Nick.

Pokemon dash looks good to me, nothing special, just good.

Revolution is the solution.

It's actually far more impressive than you might think, and really quite a deep game as well. Remember also that you can unlock so much more by inserting Pok

Surely these 'bonuses' are just ways of getting people who have other pokemon games to get this one? Or people who buy this game to get older pokemon games? Seems like a cash in to me!

I think you just spotted Nintendo's cunning plan there, fenno! :-D

The funny thing is that I started out luke warm to the whole Pokemon thing, but now I'm cultivating a full-fledged addiction. I used to be concerned with my image more, and now that I've grown a bit older and wiser, I can indulge myself in my love for happy, cute things.

This thing that people call "maturity" is way overrated.

hmmm, it looks ok, but i'll wait for the proper thing

WAAACK.

I just wonder how painful this will get on the the wrist after extensive play...

Looks quite cool though and cheers for all the nice words. Got more previews coming slowly...

Im very tempted by this game....it looks quite good. Also, seeing as it was panned to start and has then changed some peoples minds must show theres promise? I think!

Sharp, would u say its worth gettin om launch or waiting? Ive already got M64DS and Feel the magic. Im getting wario (obv) the day its released, think this can hold its on against the other 3?

It definitely will stand out against the others being a racer and all, but I think it will probably become a little bit repetitive after a while. I'd probably wait a little bit, wait to see if anything else strikes your fancy.
