MotoGP Races onto Wii and DS

By Jorge Ba-oh 31.03.2008 3

Capcom have announced that the MotoGP franchise will be heading to Nintendo's Wii and DS later this year.

The studio gained exclusive rights to the series, and aims to take motorcycle racing onto both consoles for the first time after outings on Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's Playstation.

MotoGP spans a 18 Grand Prix tracks around the world, featuring top motorbike manufacturers, top racing names and upcoming contenders.

We are very excited to have signed this long term agreement with Dorna Sports, which for the first time grants one publisher worldwide multi-platform rights to the adrenaline fuelled world of MotoGP. We feel this move to a single publisher will greatly benefit our ability to develop titles that deliver more authenticity and excitement to the consumer.

Mark Beaumont, executive VP and head of Capcom's consumer software publishing for Europe and the Americas.

MotoGP will be heading to both consoles in 2008.

If this will be serious racing-sim on Wii, then it looks very interesting, because that lacks extremely on Wii. No Ecxitebike or the like cover these.
Go on, make it well!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Cool, just adds a bit more Range for Wii games, a realistic bike racer, just hope it's not just a PS2 port.

Would definitely give the Wii-catalogue a good boost racer-wise! Hopefully can get some good motion-controlled driving, would be a shame to miss the opportunity!
