Nintendo Wii Media | Smash Update: Multi-Man Brawl

By Jorge Ba-oh 08.01.2008 21

Today's update on the Official Smash Bros. Website reveals the ability to team up with a friend off or online to take out the famed multi-man squad.

Dive into a ruthless battle with an army of enemy pawns: the Multi-Man Brawl!

Multi-Man Brawl hosts a wealth of different brawls, including the widely recognized 100-man Brawl.

This is the Multi-Man Brawl menu.

Speaking of the Multi-Man Brawl, what could the enemy team of fighters be this time around? It's the Fighting Alloy Team!

Red Alloy! He's not the leader or anything!

Blue Alloy! For some reason she seems kind of gentle.

Yellow Alloy! Those horns are scintillating!

Green Alloy! It may look like Kirby, but it's not him!

If it's a 100-Man Brawl, then you continue fighting until you've beaten 100 of them. Destroying so many really cleanses the spirit.

Just keep launching them! This time, we've added a much desired mode... Two-player Multi-Man Brawls!

Amazing! Co-op play?! With two of you watching each other's backs, it's that much more fun. But that's not all!

There's a mode for playing with a friend over Nintendo WFC! We've included online Team Multi-Man Brawl!

This is the With Friends menu.

Don't you want to cooperate sometimes instead of just fight? That's what this is for.

Be sure to stick around for updates...

way better than wireframes.

It sure is, and I expect those models to look far better in motion than how they look static. Another good welcome update, but I wonder what big surprise they are hiding in that Wii Egg on those adverts in Japan Smilie.

Yeah, they beat Wireframes, but personally I think Fighting Polygon team is still the best Smilie

In Melee, the Wireframes were based on characters

Male = Captain Falcon
Female = Zelda

They didn't have special moves, but the way they moved and used standard attacks, it was easy to tell.

So in this it would seem like:

Red = Captain Falcon
Blue = Zelda/Zero Suit Samus (they may have thought ZSS's movements were better)
Green = Kirby/MetaKnight (He said it looked like Kirby himself Smilie)
Yellow = ANIMAL CROSSING GUY!??!

Smash Bros fans look far too into these things Smilie

And my friend pointed out earlier, that Multi-Man Brawl doesn't sound as good as Multi-Man Melee. Multi-Man Melee has like a good rythem or something Smilie

And the prize for beating the Multi-Man Brawl mode? Unlocking Mega-Man...just you wait Smilie

C. Falcon confirmed (as he wasn't already).

Oh, and I think the yellow guy is Mario.

Good update. I'm ready to kick their butts with yeti DK.

Why Megaman? Smilie

Personally I think it'll be... FALCO!

EDIT: Although I don't see how this confirms Falco... Not at all.

Yeah they look awsome. They're alot more intimidating than the wire frames.

I think the egg hatching represents Nintendo finally hatching their Wii and that chickling is BrawlSmilie

Yeah the red one does seem fit for Captain falcon, but we won't know until we see it fight. The name change I don't like either. I think Sakurai could of stayed with melee since your not fighting humans, also Like you said Multi-Man Melee has that whole aliteration rythem that made it sound cooler.

I can totally see that. After brawling through four types of metal monsters you unlock a metal heroSmilie

yellow seems to be move based off an uncomfirmed character.. in the very first pic (with the menu) it seems to be doing a taunt, but we havent seen that taunt yet.
I hope megaman isn't in... sorry, i just dont like him (edited because i refered to an old interview without knowing it was old. Smilie)

( Edited on 08.01.2008 20:40 by edracon )

edracon, I'm guessing you're talking about this interview where Keiji Inafune said he'd like to see Mega-man in SSBB? If so, it actually turned out to be quite old, before the MM Anniversary show where he was asked the same thing and acted all cagey about the issue. I'm not saying MM is definitely in there, but it certainly would not be shocking if he was. Capcom certainly hasn't ruled it out, though, as it seems you're implying... Smilie

Awsome update, I like them they look pretty cool!

Still hoping Falco will be in this game! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

this looks soo fun, i cant wait.

orgasmic!

A fail so epic, it may just be a win.

This looks brilliant! But I hope there's no survive a 15 minute melee thing anymore :/ that wasn't fun.

And 2 player co-op???? AWESOME.
This game looks to be the best EVER.

I know it wasn't funSmilie but once you completed it you felt very accomplished didn't you?

It's not at all different from melee though is it? Oh well, if it ain't broke...

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

Nice update, not what I was expecting. But you know I always thought the wireframes looked swell.

That's what I was gonna say, apart from yellow. I think it looks a bit like Wario or maybe Mario...

Actually lookinga t it now I think the Blue one looks mroe like Peach. The way its arms and legs are positioned looks more Peach-y...

Wow I'm sad Smilie

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

Well, you're actually right, I spent a little while on SmashBoards and a few members had compared the alloy models with those of other characters. The Red one basically confirms Captain Falcon's incusion, and the blue one is based on Peach's movements.

The green one is Kirby and the Yellow one is based on Mario, though it's highly speculated the yellow one's actual looks are based on sommet from Meteos, since Sakurai worked on that too.
