South Park Japanese Style RPG FTW
:sarcytill as crazy and weird as ever. I'll have to check it out though, so many things this spring for the Wii, so little money.
He's not dead, he's electroencephalographically challenged.
That's fantastic news to see it confirmed as coming to the US so early in 2008, and guarantees a European release since Koei is bringing all its games here nowadays thanks to its UK office.
The game may have sold only around 5,000-10,000 copies in Japan since release, but hopefully it's quality will help it sell better in the West!
Such a shame that such a supposedly great game is looks so fundamentally flawed for all markets, in that I mean the character models. You have to make games that have mass appeal derived from them as standard. I personally like the look of the NPCs and most of what I see but I don't think the character you play as has mass appeal, and that's important.
The game itself looks great, I just think the same will happen in the U.S as they will dislike the style equally.

you're very right.
I even find it a little hard to get behind the game - but have been keeping an eye on it - so maybe I'll be in a different mode when it finally does hit - and I won't be so hung up on its very different art direction.
...why are they the only round things and every one else looks like a FF character?!
well the fight look like they fun character models are bad if u as me not what iam use to from koei i wish they use Haradaya to draw up some characters
Love the art style. Love the character models. Thinks the style of the main characters is one of the best things about this game. Unfortunately, everyone's right: this game will sink because weird and different doesn't sell (unless is codified, marketed weirdTM sold to a niche).
Yeah, the hero isn't very nice to look at. But all the other characters are pretty sweet, imo. That giant TV screen, haha, and the other pokemon-like creatures are cool, too. I think I might check it out at some point or another.
The main draw for me is the actual developer, Artepiazza, due to its background with the Dragon Quest series. It also just finished up work on the DQIV port for DS as well, which is fan-bloody-tastic, if you ask me!
This trailer is made so well, with a lot of quirkiness and knowledge of timing. This game will be great, I do hope so!
Shame, that character draw so many people off. They stay true to their style, that's so adorable. They deserve to sell a lot of games. shame, that Japanese sales were so poor.
Other than the quirky main character, does nobody else agree that the game actually has really good visuals? I reckon this is head and shoulders above many other 3rd Party offerings...
Yeah, I agree that the visuals are great.
Hate to say this, but if Koei advertise this game, they need to aim it at the younger crowd. Great games deserve to sell, even if they have to follow the 'old Nintendo' route.
Don't get me wrong, theres a high possibility I'll end up with a copy of this, but there is really only one demographic that will buy it from visual first impressions alone.

Definitely, like I say earlier I like most of what I see. This game had a great development team working on it and I and am confident it's a great game, but, if the game did not work well in Japan of all places it does not bode well for here in the west. If I recall correctly the development team list reads like a all star cast?.
It would be such a shame and a blow to the developers if it flopped here also, that may have ramifications for future Wii games from them which would be sad. They would only have themselves to blame ultimately if it did though.
I want such games to always do well so here's hoping it reviews well and is marketed well in the U.S, and that it comes here. We need quality 3rd parties developing and successful on Wii.
