Nintendo Wii Media | Guitar Hero 3 Trailer

By Mike Mason 03.10.2007 18

Nintendo fans have had it rough while other formats received versions of the popular Guitar Hero series. Now, though, it's time to rejoice as the series finally debuts with Nintendo systems on Wii this year with Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock. For the uninitiated, Guitar Hero puts you in the role of a guitarist with aims of superstardom, as you strum your way through popular songs to make it to the top, complete with a controller that actually resembles a guitar.

Here's a promotional trailer for the new entry in the series:

  • In the Wii version, the Wii remote slots into the wireless guitar peripheral itself so that you can use its motion sensing to activate the point-multiplying Star Power mode with a swift tilt once your meter has charged sufficiently. Previously, this worked via a motion sensor built internally into the guitar controller itself. You can find an image of the controller, as well as a smattering of CG art from the game, in our screens album below.

Featuring dozens of songs (full list here), and head-to-head play both online and offline, Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock on Wii is due to hit shops in the next couple of months for an RRP of

I'm gonna like using Slash. I'm also gonna like Dragon Force Through The Fire and FlamesSmilie

You see, Master Cheif gets up, has his cup of coffee, and starts his day just like any other humanoid. It's what he does in his day that makes him so FREAKIN' AWSOME!

One word, well, three: Knights of Cydonia Smilie! Hell yeah!

That looks pretty damn good, the guitar looks sweet as well Smilie

So I'm guessing the Wii version is going to be the only wireless one?

Also the price is very high,

    Hell that's expensive... was it this expensive on other consoles? 70 bloody quids o.0;

Online head to head in Wii version, no concrete plans for downloadable songs...but they're hoping they can work something out with Nintendo and sort it out a bit after its release, last I heard.

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

    Devil Went Down to Georgia?

    Uh okay...

Unfortunately, according to Official Nintendo Magazine, the Wii version wont have downloadible content.Smilie.Atleast not unless Nintendo create a medium to save them on.

It's a shame cos I liked the songs from the other Guitar heroe's aswell.

Downloadable songs REALLY has to be an option for Wii users, it will show that Nintendo are at least LETTING other developers use online & WiiConnect24 in good ways. LETTING is the first step towards ACTUALLY TRYING.

As I said, they're attempting to work out a solution to the problem, but it just isn't likely to be done for launch. I imagine it's the storage capacity that's holding them back and little else.

Bloc Party and The Killers! Yay more songs I know! Plus Muse as well. And Dragon Force! Boo ya!

All the guitars are wireless people. They are all the same excluding the Wii Guitar where you have to slot in the Wiimote. The added functionality is better motion detection, vibration (when you activate star power the Wiimote starts vibrating causing the guitar to vibrate) and the Wiimote speaker is used (when you make a mistake it comes out off the little speaker, apparently it can be turned off so that it comes out of the TV instead).

Devil Went Down Georgia? Heck yes!! Smilie

I wasn't expecting that one at all, but it's very much full of awesome.

Oh, and I'm partial to Sunshine of Your Love, too. I get that song in my head a lot. I'm glad Wii is getting a Guitar Hero.

Holy Moses does this game have a rocking line up! Santana, BOC, Cream, The Who, Eric Johnson, Aerosmith, Sabbath, Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan and the list goes on.

Bugger it, I'm getting this and Rock Band.

I'm just now wondering where's Megadeth, hell they were in the first one and II, where are they?
