Nintendo News | Europe Axes Nintendo Forums

By Jorge Ba-oh 24.09.2007 11

Another Nintendo forum comes to an abrupt close today as the company's European forums will no longer serve loyal fans after being in service for over 5 years.

Today we bring you news about certain changes to the Nintendo website. After we experienced some security issues in the past, the community forums have now been closed for good.

Since the start of this website five years ago, our primary goal has always been to provide the most in-depth and up-to-date information about our full range of products. As well as being the first port of call for people looking to find all the latest Nintendo news, the site has acted as an important hub down the years for people who want to share their views or stay in touch with other Nintendo enthusiasts through our forums.

When the forums launched we felt they were an essential service for our many loyal site visitors, and the response to them suggested you felt the same way. Since then, however, a number of other online Nintendo communities have surfaced. Dedicated solely to providing a place for Nintendo fans to meet and chat together, these forums are looked after by people who are able to focus all their resources in one area.

Given the growth of all these other online communities, we think visitors to our website would be best served if we focused all our energies on putting together a new Nintendo-Europe.com that will offer Club Nintendo members a number of new features for an expanded experience with our products.

We would like to thank all our members that have participated in the community forums over the years, and we hope you will enjoy all the exciting new features on the horizon.

:/ well nvm that when are they going to let up get wii point from stars? they did say they going to do that and have not yet <_<

I think this is good news... I only posted a few times on the forums, and it's full of immature little twats, and by closing their forum hopefully they will make a better EU site... similar to JAPANESE by that i mean more Nintendo Merchandise exclusive to the site! Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Oh god, let the mass exodus to various top fansites around Europe commence...

Trying to think of a witty signature after 'Hacker-gate'...

Quick c3 go bring everyone to this site! Like you did when ngamer closed its forums...(or moved it...)

I sure hope this means they'll hurry up with the stars for WIi points offer.

I like how they tried to make up different reasons for closing forums in the US than the UK.

Do they think people don't read news from around the world or something??

I don't know the real reasons the forums are closing but it sure aint a security issue or because of a redesign.

IMO they dont want to invest resources in moderating such forums so the easiest and cheapest solution is to ditch them and let other people do it for you.

To be honest all there was on those forums was crap after crap anyway. I've been on there for years and only posted a few times. I don't think there's any real reason to close it, but I know it shant be missed.

Wow! o.0; that was a bit of a shock. I never used them (I dunno if I've ever even posted there before...)

So we'll be getting an onslaught of Nintendo fanboys? Result! Make way! Smilie

So, you mean that some other Nintendo forums have closed? Which ones?

    Arg.

oh, and how about some Press chase them up on this whole STARS <> WII POINT thing we were promised eh?

Seriously, they deserve a bit of a proding for promising something "SOON" half a bloody year ago!

Last update; Mice,Plumbers,Animatronics and Airbenders. We also have the socials; Facebook & G+

So, most of us pity that but nobody wanted to post there anyway? Great. *lol*

I hope this is the beginning of a site woth my time. present side is a PITA and even doesn't show right on Opera (meaning it won't display right on Wii Internet Channel!!!). It is slow and ugly and crams all the info in too small a space. And even was not entertaining. I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful... new site like US, Japanese or even product-sites for Wii and Touch Generation.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
