Nintendo News | Wii Being Pushed to New Heights in UK

By Adam Riley 15.06.2007 12

Nintendo has already seen major success with the Wii not only across the whole of Europe, but especially in the UK and now it plans on ramping up its marketing campaign for even greater success!

According to MCV, Nintendo UK is planning the largest ever annual First-Party software marketing drive, with more being spent on the rest of 2007's Wii games than it has ever before on a whole year of First Party titles! The word on the street is that Mario Strikers Charged Football's campaign cost more than

This is definetly good news, and lately ive been seeing alot of Wii adverts, especially Mario Strikers and Brain Training Smilie

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Mario Strikers has done a fantastic job of revitalising the Wii in the UK, and with Nintendo pumping more Wii into stores its vital to advertise as much as possible. Thankfully that's just what has happened, as we saw with WarioWare, Zelda shooting up the charts on Monday and Wii Play sticking high up. It's a shame Excite Truck isn't being pushed anymore, though...

MP8 is destined to be the most successful in the series so far, that's pretty obvious, and with Big Brain Academy hitting just a few weeks after the neutron bomb that is More Brain Training on DS, means the nation will be in brainiac mode most definitely.

What about the other games that are supposed to be coming out this year that people actually give 2 shits about?

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Metroid Prime and Mario Galaxy? They're not Q2 games, they're likely set for the September-November period. As for Super Paper Mario, I'd hazard late August time.

They'll all get pushed, no doubt, but Nintendo's still desperate to bring over that lucrative 'wider demographic' to Wii, obviously.

They should hurry up with the 3 big games and spend money on them...metroid could really do with a marketing push!

Maybe, just maybe, Paper Mario is being delayed to sort out all the Americanisms in the dialogue that made the first two so jarring. That would single handedly increase my respect for NoE by one point (they're on -32 currently, but every little helps).

Nice to see the marketing is getting a boost. God knows where the ads are nowadays...they were on for just a week or two here in NZ.

Who's marketing Resident Evil Wii Edition? CAPCOM? or NoE?

They better give Metroid Prime 3 a dick load of advertising.

How could it be NoE?

Maybe... I'd happily wait years if that was the case. But on the other side of the coin, if we just get the American version after all this time I'll be very annoyed.

I wonder what ad they will put out, I hope they have made another from that terrible ad that was posted on the net some weeks ago.

They should go with a post watershed one showing some juicy bits of the game. Cannot wait to play it on WS at the end of the month, it's going to look gorgeous. LS

(NOM have given a Gold Award for Blazing Angels on the Wii!, surely a terrible mistake Smilie.)

How could it be NoE?

Because NoE marketed RE4 on the GameCube in Europe.
