Maybe. Personally I just think they were in the zone on the N64. They nailed the hardware and took advantage of every opportunity it provided. Every title was spit-polished to perfection, plus the actual content was refreshing (and decidedly British, which sounds stupid but it did make a difference, I think, that these games were coming from home soil, not some faceless Japanese developer).

I reckon that Rare could be coming back into the zone again now. They know the 360, they're comfortable with it. The next few years are going to be interesting. And exciting, which is strange, but Rare games actually get me excited, in that great child-like way. I get all buzzy thinking about Banjo-Threeie. It could very well be incredible...

Err, for the token on-topic comment... I think the controls for this will be fine, but it'll be more like maracas (sp?) than bongos.

Less posty, more gamey.

I think ditching the bongos could be a good thing as first time players to the latest DK series wont have to buy Bongos and from experience I can remember playing Donkey Konga with only 2 Bongos and 2 controllers (which are terrible) because no one else owned the game, so it would save needless hassel plus may be able to use the Wii's controller could be better.

Unless Nintendo do like Activision and create a wireless bongo because the sheer annoyance from having to get in range of the console gets annoying.

I still dont have high hopes from this game even though having Rambi is pretty sweet and the gameplay looks pretty smooth but it look too much on rails, even though most racers are on rails this looks too restrictive, but then again I'm only judging from the trailers released, the controller would be much more precise than the bongos because of the sensitivity. It could be the next Diddy Kong Racing.

Well Viva Pinata is the best game on the 360 so err... Yeah...

Perfect Dark Zero was kinda shite though >.>

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

PDZ was not 'shite'. It was a great game. Unfortunately for Rare, they now find themselves on a platform which actually has other great FPS games.

Phew, good thing I am not stuck in the past so I can enjoy new games.
Dont patronize me, please.
Sidepocket said:This game looks good, the ideas seem good, I just have to wait for some video of the controls to verify it will not be just another blah video game. Not to mention, Diddy Kongs Quest was the only good DK game IMO, so I am glad they are gone. Now they are just making crappy X-Box games that do not sell well. They might as well sell womans cosmetics to men while they are at it.Can you tell that I think Rare is over hyped? Smilie
Why do you care so much about sales figures? And how on earth are Rares Xbox games crappy? They all got 8s and 9s out of 10 SmilieI think youre just trying to be argumentative.

So you are saying I am not suppose to state my opinions on a message board?

You do know that you do not have to agree AT ALL with what I am saying right? That is like, the whole point of an opinion.

And is the whole point of opinion to also patronize and insult me in the process? I don't think so. Furthermore, you say they're crap, and then mention that they didn't sell, is this supposed to mean that they didn't sell, therefore they are crap (have you never heard of Shenmue?)? Anyway, does anyone even have the sales figures for PDZ and Kameo? Do you? If you do, why do you? It's not entirely normal information for someone to just have to hand.

Anyway, you're blatantly only saying Rare's Xbox games are shit because you're bitter at them for some irrational reason. They have all been consistently great games, and have scores to prove it. The only only thing you could say is that they aren't the all-time classics that their predecessors were, and that's okay.

You can't expect a company to just keep making constant 'best game ever' games, forevermore, without periods of some slightly less aloof, but still great games in between. Rare's day will come again. PDZ's and Kameo's development history spanned three consoles. They both started on GC, then had to be moved to Xbox, then had to be moved to Xbox 360. Three entirely different consoles.

On Wikipedia, there's a quote from some Rare guy saying the Xbox verison was a year away from being finished when they had to bin it and start again on 360. For those games to have gone through all that, and still end up as 8/10 games, well, that's just testament to Rare's utter quality. They've had alot to adjust to over the last five years. They've still got the quality. And when their proper Xbox 360 games show up, you'll know it.

^^^ Well you keep saying that about Nintendo....

No I don't. When have I ever bothered to track down the sales figures of a Nintendo game which has had an extremely turbulent development-process, as a means of trying to say it's rubbish when it's not? I've never said what Sidepocket is saying here.

Bla bla bla.

How the hell am I insulting you? I am telling you the truth. People have opinions, and most of the time they are different from other people. While you can disagree, its foolish and immature to jump up and down trying to impose your will onto people for merely liking different stuff than you.

For instance, Cinderella Man was an Academy Award winner. Because it won so many awards do you HAVE to like it? No.

I am just merely stating that besides a few games, Rare to me is overrated, especially the new games. I liked Viva Pinata though I knew it was doomed at the start due to the X-Box market share. Remember, I support X-Box and use to be part of that demographic, I know what those people are like.

Geeze, stop exploding to every thing that does not go your way. Keep on doing that and you might give Jack Thompson a run for his fucking jump the gun manners.

Plus, list the part were I said "I am bitter at them for some irrational reason." What the fuck is that. That would be like taking what you say and figuring you are republican. Putting words in people's mouths is not healthy.

And people call me the over reactive fan boy. Smilie

Also, yes I had heard Shenmue. I have it for my Dreamcast with soundtrack. It is a good game but (invisible In My OPINION for morons) was WAAAAAY over hyped for its own good. Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment? Please.

Two choice examples. You patronize me, and insinuate that I am a moron. Surely you can see how this is insulting? Admittedly, they are only minor, but you know, after all the shit you've given me, after flaming my inbox (and you say I'm immature? :sarcySmilie, etc? You should not even be joking around with me, because I'm obviously going to be inclined to take more offence to comments from you, due to the way you've treated me. If say, Artmonkey patronized me, or even insinuated something about me, I'd be far more likely to take it on the chin as banter. But from you? No. Either talk to/about me in a completely civil way, or don't talk to/about me at all.

Cheers.

Yet you can swear like a drunk sailor with a biopsy but someone makes a jabbing joke and oh no, he hwort my wittle feelings! Not to mention when someone posted a video of mine and ripped it to shreds with derogatory claims and unjust obscenities but even a little hint of a joke about something about you and its WHAAAAAA-mbulence time!

Also, how did you know I was talking to you? Did I say "Thank go I am not stuck in the past like that Oni fuck and I can enjoy new games!" I was making a statement on how lots of gamers are stuck in the past remembering the "good old days" and are missing out on the new shit. If I were to address you I would have included your name Oni. I quoted you for talking about Rare so I stated my feelings that outside of Diddy Kong 2 I am glad that rare is not working on those games anymore since I do not worship all there games blindly.

How about this: Lets stop sacrificing small animals to the Rare gods and lets get back to the fucking topic of DK Taur Jet!

On that note, I wonder if it will use Wii Connect 24 for new tracks and such.

P.S. If Oni keeps on bitching after this I am going to ignore him. I hope for the board sakes he can do the vice versa.

I didn't mean in the part of the sales, I meant about that ^^^

I swear with impunity, very true. However, it's rare that I swear at someone. It's just a natural part of my everyday speech. Ever since you flamed my inbox, I've hated you, and just tried to ignore you. Where I've had to talk to you, I've done so in a civil manner. But you on the otherhand, again with that comment, could not just say that I swear alot, you had to make some little comment as well. We are not friends. I do not wish to share jokes with you.

Oh come now! You quoted me, and were replying to my point. It is usual in this situation on message boards to point out that you are not replying to the person, but the overall point in general. Not the other way around. And again, even if you weren't lying there, you should remember that we are not friends, and after everything you've done, I'm not likely to take that as an innocent thing. I would assume that you were replying to me, wouldn't I?

Please. This is really quite usual of you. You always try to 'get the last word', and attempt to demonize me for ruining the topic, etc. It won't work. This topic was ruined ages ago, and it shall never return to normal. If you insult me, I will speak up, topic be damned or not.

In future, when replying to any of my posts, quoting me, or anything else relating to me, double-check your post, and think "Am I being completely civil to Oni with this post?". If the answer is 'no', then rethink and edit. Note how I do not talk to you like I talk to most other people here. Formal speech, so as to cause no offense.

Huh? I'm sorry Z, but I can't recall a time where I've layed into any great Nintendo game that's had to switch three consoles in development.

Bleh, I didn't care about this game when it was shown at E3 and I don't care about it now.

I loved Donkey Kong Country when I played it on the SNES x-number of years ago, although going back to it now is just painful. They've aged horribly :/ .

Donkey Kong 64 is pure tedium as well, and however clich

Maybe I should be more specific in the future? Smilie

Oh I see.

Sidepocket you solo'd out Oni in your original post and posted an insult AT him. There have been others in this thread who've agreed with oni and disagreed with you but your focus has been entirely on Oni.

At no point in this thread has Oni thrown an insult at you, he has asked you not to post insults at him yet you continue. Sidepocket you are in the wrong in this thread and we would kindly appreciate it if you stopped harassing members in the future and post in a civilised manner.

Well I think people should stop picking on Sidepocket. He wouldn't be like this, if no one picked on him in the first place.

There both as bad as each other, in my opinion.

Oni, sometimes you truly bemuse me.

Rare games the only good N64 games? WHAT?! Lets just ignore OOT, MM (which you tout is so amazing), Mario 64, Mario Kart, F zero GX and Lylat Wars then? (No doubt tons more I'm forgetting too)

The 360, while I love it, has a fairly small library of great games right now. Doesn't bother me, as I just get the good ones but you're talking out of your arse saying the N64's only good games were rare games.

Perfect Dark Zero was a decent game, but not a great one at all. And Viva Pinata was pretty crap to be honest.

It was wrong of me to say that, I suppose. What I meant was that for the types of games they were making, the N64 was a much less crowded console. There's only two FPS games worth playing on N64, and they're both from Rare.

Well we all know the Xbox is FPS heaven....

If the games were great, they would still be great even in a crowded market. Hell they'd likely do better because most of the people who own the console are fans of the genre.

Nobody was picking on Sidepocket in this thread though. Oni posted a comment and Sidepocket started to insult him without provocation so there's no justifying his actions.

It's not just about this thread though. People started picking on Sidepocket from the beginning. Now he doesn't respect anyone now, because of this.

I remember when I was picked on by members. I would do the same thing, it's just natural. I'm sure if someone started picking on you, you would get pissed off, and the same has happened here. There's only so much a person can take, whether it be physical abuse or name calling.

Leave him alone, he's a good member underneath.

May I interject? Sidepocket is no 'victim', and you shouldn't be painting him as one. You're obviously unaware of some of the things he has done. In any case, I've been nothing but civil to him for a long time, and yet he insults me at every turn. Incidentally, he's apparently always whinging to the mods about me. Which is strange, as I've not said anything untoward to him, yet he's constantly goading me.

Yeah I'm not saying it's the best FPS ever or anything. Just sort of sticking up for it as, you know, it was a good game. Some people would have you believe that it was worse than shit, though.
