It was hailed as the blue 'hogs best game in years. Now Sega has officially announced Sonic Rush Adventure today, paired with some spiffy screens.

Setting off from Windmill Village you'll be forced to battle pirates as you search for treasure. Trekking through seven diverse and exciting levels, you'll be locating various different items and treasures to help you defeat sed evil pirates. Ships (five of them to be precise), submarines, hovercrafts and water bikes are at your disposal. The touchscreen is utilised to its fullest here as you direct your vessels to gather rings, perform tricks and battle fierce pirate boats. Epic 3D boss battles will engage you at the end of every level, including your grotesque, evil and unforgiving nemisis....Captain Whisker.

You may of noticed a heavy emphasis on the pirates, but you'll also encounter Robots, skeleton warriors, pterodactyls, and a robotic triceratops in your travels. The Loops and frantic 2D plains we all know and love are plentyful also.

Could be better still... Sonic Rush with Sonic Adventure elements! Hope this is true.

That would be awesome. Love SR, pretty sweet but damn difficult game - I'd love a sequel, perhaps with more levels and some form of multiplayer aspect.

SR was mucking fint! Hopefully they'll do another awesome game too.

More Sonic Rush = fantastic

Dont like the sounds of that word "Adventure", however :-/

Didn't the first one have multiplayer? I'm pretty sure it did...

Either way I really hope so. The word adventure does seem a bit odd in there, but I doubt they're stupid enought to make a 3D Sonic on a handheld... I mean it wasn't even Sonic Team who made the first one. I hope they get the same guy to do the music, it was awesome

Sonic Stadium!! I was on that page earlier on, I would have headed you guys off but I didn't want to be mean to SEGA if it was an unintentional leak.

SEGA are my buddies ya see.

Anyway, if it's true, I'll be a very happy Josh indeed. VERY HAPPY.

Hopefully Sonic Team won't ruin it maybe :-/

I hope there will be a proper confirmation soon, or a clear up of what this is all about.

Sonic Rush was great fun, a sequel would be superb.

Looking good...and with a solid fanbase on DS already this should do VERY well indeed.

delivering Sonic's usual high-speed 2D gameplay.

thank god its not another crappy 3D game.

I actually quite like the sound of the new 3D 'Adventure' bits, but it's good to know the classic platforming stuff is still the main focus.

Even, though the vehicles are bit strange, having them on water sort of gets around the question of 'why doesn't the fastest thing alive just run?'

From the screenshots the Adventure bits look like the old bonus levels from Sonic 3D (with the groupings of rings and such), I wonder if there will be Emeralds at the end?

I'm intrigued about the ship-to-ship combat, wonder how they're going to handle that?

Can't wait to get my hands on this one. Smilie

This is great news! Hell even if its more of the EXACT same thing we got from the last sonic DS outing I'm still happy as a lark! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!

Pirates eh? SEGA seem to be following the trend of Sonic & The Secret Rings, & having a bit of a different story for a change.

I sure hope Tails is playable this time.

I got nothing against a bit of 3D mixed in with the 2D, but they better have it seamlessly blended :-/
It looks at the moment like they may be seperate levels.
Hope im wrong.
