Nintendo Wii Media | Mario Strikers Charged Screens

By Jorge Ba-oh 08.03.2007 14

Nintendo released a small handful of screens from the upcoming Mario Strikers sequel, Charged for Wii, taking Mario and co. for online competitions and more.

  • Battle on the most unpredictable and hazard-filled pitches in the universe. New captain super abilities, sidekick skill-shots and charging the ball add a new level of depth to an already crazy soccer battle.
  • Compete against friends and other strikers in online matches over Nintendo

  • Box art for Mario Strikers Charged Football

    Online? YES!

I hope they go full on with the online modes and don't just stop at "vs and continental" or something silly like that. We need rankings, online leagues, spectator modes, voice chat, all of this stuff and more - and these are things that weren't uncommon in Xbox 1 games so I really can't see any excuse other than laziness.

    Otherwise, the screens look...nice Smilie

    Graphics are not bad...

    Nintnedo, frankly, is lazy

Doesn't look too bad, but I don't see too much visual improvements. I agree with Dojo - there really needs to be a strong online presence, especially with online leagues/rankings, but I predict a bog-standard friends/rivals style hub.

Awsome ive got teh GC game and its preety fun, and this looks like fun aswell and it has online Smilie thumbs up from me!!

I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

Looks crap, and it's another Mario genre spin-off, which further compounds it's crapness in my books. However, if it has full online play, I will have some respect for it.

    Elaborate?

Why can't a spin-off be good? And why does the fact it is a Mario spin-off make it more crap? The spin-offs have generally been of good quality, although nothing really amazing.

I'm just taking the wait and see approach with this. Never played the original, but a friend of mine said he really enjoyed it, and he wasn't that big a Nintendo-fan or anything.
Screens look alright, not too big a step up from what I've seen of the original... One thing: The online needs to be good. It could finally show what online gaming on the Wii is actually capable of. If they just make it a VS match online, it'll be rather disappointing.
I'm not really into football, but if I could play some of you guys and completely pwn you at a genre I never play in an ONLINE Wii-GAME(I also almost never play onlineSmilie), I'm going to want itSmilie

The GameCube version was great im multiplayer mode, and with an online mode it's a definite buy for me.

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Yeah the multiplayer is preety damn good and fun!! Smilie

They better not have a ranking system, its always been abused. Snaking in Mario Kart and staying in Altform on Metroid made both those games shit to play online, all thanks to the prats who want a good rank which is nearly everyone.

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
    -What?

Let's hope that this is as brilliant as it deserves to be. Yoshi thrashing Daisy 5-0? Priceless.

    Screwing the rules since 1989.

I was actually amazed at how fun the GC version was, despite football (and therefore football games) being utterly dire and boring. Looks like you can play as Bowser this time too which should be fun ;3

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

I haven't played the GC version so I don't know if I'll like this but going by what most of you have said it sounds fun Smilie
