Nintendo DS Media | FFXII Revenant Wings (Update - New Trailer)

Update: We continue our onslaught of festive RPG updates with yet another piece of media from Square Enix's DS loving. The company have released the first snippet of gameplay from their Final Fantasy spin-off, which can be viewed below.

Original Story
Revenant Wings tells the story of Vaan and Panelo, two of the main characters from FFXII. Vaan is 18 years old in the game, and has just fulfilled his dream of getting his own plane. He keeps himself free of politics and family life and travels the skies as an air pirate. The 17-year-old Panelo serves as his navigator.

If you're anywhere near as excited about this title as we are we know you'll be sure to check back regularly for more updates just as soon as we get our grubby mitts on them, but for now, enjoy!

As usual, very cool, the graphical style is pretty unique, 2D/3D sprites with 3D backgrounds, awesome. The battles also look very different. A bit of a departure for the FF series, here's hoping it doesn't end up like Dirge of Cerberus...

By the way, that Trailer that you linked to is broken... Smilie

It's real-time, playing rather like Secret of Mana on the SNES from initial reports.

The game looks truly fantastic right now - can't wait to see more of it Smilie Thanks a lot Karn!

You guys prefer this as real-time...!? Christ, I prefer it as more generic RPG. Funny how preferences differ so much from person to person.

I'm yearning for good old RPG on DS rather than a swashbuckling shallow action, which we seem to see too much of on handhelds.

I'll still like all though.
