Nintendo DS Media | Final Fantasy CC: Ring of Fates (Updated)

By Adam Riley 18.12.2006 24

Thanks to Jonnyram of NeoGAF.com, here are some details regarding Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates:

  • The director of the game will be Mitsuru Kamiyama, who was a coder on the original GameCube version;
  • On character designing duties is Toshiyuki Itahana, who has previously worked on Final Fantasy IX and Chocobo;
  • FFCC's lead characters are twins: Yuri and Cherinka;
  • Up to four players can take part, but not via Wi-Fi, as Square Enix wants gamers to play amidst friends;
  • No Wi-Fi details have been mentioned at all;
  • When battling, the vertical position on-screen actually affects the way you fight, meaning there is indeed a Y-axis;
  • A new jump command has been implemented;
  • No crystal gauge will be present this time;
  • There will be some moderate voice acting in the game, however it will not be fully voiced;
  • In single player mode there is a story based around the theme of family and brotherly love, and involves switching between characters;
  • Kawazu-san, who was an integral part of the GameCube title, is not involved in this new project.
  • Keep it locked to Cubed3 for further updates...

    What, no WiFi? This is one of the reasons I anticipated Ring of Fates even more. The game was born for online play. I imagine the Wii version will feature online play instead. And no doubt DS-Wii connectivity will be implemented too.

    Still, I am looking forward to this game as I am a huge fan of the GameCube version. Square are sure to do a great job on this project.

    No Wi-Fi details have been mentioned at all

    Begs the question... what the fuck is the point then?

    I doubt many people know three others who will own it or want to play it together.

    Stupid... if Wifi isn't announced this will flop.

    You think you've got problems.
    What are you supposed to do if you are a manically depressed robot?
    No don't even bother to answer that.
    It just gives me a headache trying to think down to your level.

    Awww hell naww!!!

    we never know they may add it at the last minute... just wait for more details!

    I see all these people insulting the Nintendo corporation because of the lack of mature content. Yet there is something about Nintendo (at least their games) that strikes a certain unadulterated feeling of joy!!!  Pokemon Y - 1048-9263-5562

    Wasnt this one of the first WiFi games announced O_o

    I also thought that had wifi confirmation ages ago

    So was Mario Basket...but then it was pulled Smilie

    Still, as long as the one-player mode is bolstered then I'll be happy.

    They're doing another fuck up...this Crystal Chronicles series has such HUGE potential...

    Hey, its the DS+Wii link up that is the most important thing for this game, isn't it? Wifi doesn't make everything good. I mean, look at Halo 2. What a waste of Xbox Live server space.

    It sounds incredible, hame about no WiFi, but I think adventuring with those you don't know is a bit weird anyway...

    I can't wait, some voice acting, jumping & no crystal gauge? Sounds very interesting, can't wait...

    It's like they were gonna make it a decent game... But then they decided to make it like the original one on the GAmecube instead

    I think the Wii version was the only one confirmed with wifi ages back but still it's hard getting proper multiplayer with handhelds that require all 4 people to have the same game.
    Still since they have pretty much botched the multiplayer maby the single player is good this time.

    Looks awesome. I hope the single player mode is good.

    Oh well atleast Dragon Quest IX features wifi online multiplayer, right? Smilie

    I hated the battlesystem in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on Gamecube... And it was such a boring game alone...

    Even Dungeon Explorer on Wii Virtual Console is much better and it doesn't require any crappy GBA->GC link cables and additional gbas for every player

    A short video of game play featured in this game is on YouTube. What is shocking is that the video was posted on july 14, 2006.

    I saw this video during the summer but I thought it was fake.

    They don't seem to like using the FF3 engine much do they Smilie

    I want a real flippin' Final Fantasy game. Nintendo get your heads out of your tails and go beg Squaresoft

    Wash your fucking mouth out, squire!! The XBL multiplay in Halo 2 is better than 99.9% of gaming to be found on the GameCube, let alone crappy Crystal Chronicles.

    Just because there were no WiFi details announced, doesnt mean there will be no wifi. They just didnt say anything about it this time. (I hope)
