Nintendo Wii News | Suda Talks About Heroes

By Adam Riley 25.09.2006 13

Recently there was a Press Conference held by Wada-san of Marvelous Interactive and Suda51 of Grasshopper over in Japan. Originally there was some hesitation over whether it should come to the PlayStation 2, but after seeing the Wii's control system it became obvious where the game's true home should be. This is because you can shake the controller just like a Beam Katana...but it was quickly stated that that will not be the only weapon available. The game is set to be extremely energetic in style.

According to Suda-san, the main star of Heroes is a big "Bizar Jili Sorceress" (an anime Suda imagined would exist in the Heroes world). Suda also states his wish for Marvelous to publish a game on that series. Rounding off, details are talked about, highlighting that the game's scenario is finished and the game itself is almost done as well, with them aiming for an early 2007 release.

Jokingly, Suda said that he really hopes the game will reach 1,000,000 sales at least...which considering killer7's performance and Contact's start in Japan, seems quite a grand wish.

Here is the updated trailer for those that missed the original leaked one a couple of months back:

Early 07 is a lot sooner than I expected, can wait to see more.

I just started on Killer7, seems ace.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Looks much better in the new trailer - the music and voices still aren't wonderful...but they're a damn sight better than the original leaked video!

Killer 7 was a very unique game pity it didn't get the sales it deserved, but a good marketing campaign could make this a killer title

Mike Gee of iZINE said, "...The Verve, as he [Richard Ashcroft] promised, had become the greatest band in the world. Most of the critics agreed with him. Most paid due homage. The Verve were no longer the question mark or the clich. They were the statement and the definition."

Nah, being really good would make this a killer game.

It's going to be shit and you jolly well know it.

Can't help but feel drawn to this, because of visual and development similarities it has with Killer7. I enjoyed Killer7, the fact this looks similar and is made by the same guy raises Heroes on my anticipation meter.

I hope they don't do the stupid thing and release it on the PS2 a few months later to try and boost sales. If anything, it just diminutes the games credibility.

Yeah from the trailer it's looking great at the moment, can't wait to see more from it.

I played Killer7 only for a short time but I think it is a really wonderful game. It's crazy, it's brutal and it's very fascinating. It is a fascinating study of the mind of the main-character. I think it deserved much more credit than it did.
I hope this game stays in the shelves of the stores, because it could be a small but long selling jewel!
But maybe long-term-motivation isn't that good? controls where difficult, I have to play it longer than even the 1 hour I did for getting them right.

I hope the new game will be equally strange/excellent/wonderful but maybe feature an easier to master control scheme!

So I think, Grumbler, Killer7 IS a really good game! Looking forward to 'Heroes'.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Dang, you beat me to posting this up!

I absolutely love the trailer - it's very, very good!

Looks great...but I hate to say it; style over substance?

Computer games normaly have such a bland, boring, restrictive set of styles anything looking different feels new.
But it still needs the gameplay to go with it.

Yeah, Tman, liked it too!

I want to play Helter Skelter, not that strange other guy who's name just slipped from my mind...

terrible voice-acting I think. *lol*
The rest is more than stylish!

I find your lack of faith disturbing!
