Nintendo Rumour | Insider Speculates Wii Launch Package

With the Wii launch details drawing closer, and closer, various reports, guess work and claims have begun to surface on what Nintendo intend to bring to the market later this year. An IGN reader claims to be in the know with his fairly logical guess on what'll be packaged alongside the Wii.

Wii-X2 picked up on the story, and have posted up a run-down of what was said by the "source" and his insider knowledge of Nintendo's launch plans: "I can't spoil who my source is as he would kill me. I've known him for 9 years, and I'd trust him with my life. He got into Nintendo (or more accurately, NST) in 2000, by taking the classes at Digipen and getting on from there, as many Digipen students do."

He notes that Nintendo's Wii package will consist of:

  • Wii console/plugs etc
  • Two Wii-motes and nunchuck accessories
  • A copy of Wii Sports / a multiplayer title of some kind
  • Possibility of an S/D memory card to store data bundled in as well.

    Whilst this setup goes against the traditional Nintendo console launch, it does seem like an interesting proposition, and if the source is to be believed, certainly a good investment. However, the speculation suggests that Nintendo will be selling the classic controller separately from the Wii, trying to really highlight the Wii-mote through the series of Wii Sports games.

    "The price will not disappoint. The date will not disappoint."

    The claims are interesting, something to consider, and would certainly attract a fair amount of consumers this fall. Nintendo are strongly set to reveal their Wii plans fully by the end of next week.

    Be sure to stick with C3 for future and official confirmation when it breaks.

    Sounds quite likely if Nintendo really want people to experience the Wii, and would be a perfect way of getting people started. I'd love it if a controller were included as standard, that would rock!Smilie

    I would love it if they put in the VC contrller but it is still an interesting package nonetheless.

    I'm with the wait brigade. It sounds very tasty and would be a great package, but I'm not getting my hopes up and am probably best just waiting the last few days now. Not long to go!

    I actually believe that source, but the rumours of 2 Wiimotes and Wii Sports has been going on for ages. That'd be a great package.

    Bring on next week though, so scared the Wii's going to slip to 2007 for Europe.

    That'd be a fair kick ass bundle alright, i hate gettin a console and then havin t shell out for an extra controller(i mean really at this stage 2 should be standard in all consoles)!

    I'm guessing it'll be around morning/afternoon US time (around noon maybe).

    So another 'real good source'. I guess every Digipen-student entering Nintendo in 2000 will be lurking around Nintendo HQ, trying to ask every one passing by for a dollar/yen, because he 'quite recently lost his job'...


    As all the news these days sound [quite true, these one does too. They are very good for talking about and presenting wanna-haves and would-be-greats, and that's why jb and the others post these news.

    They can put everything in the box I say and everything may be possible - or even may not. It's like trying to foretell how long I have to try to kill every [b9goddamn[/b] enemy in the Sands-of-Time-game when driving up the tower at the end of the game and shouting to Farah not to get killed by hammer-demons and her incompetence...

    I know what you mean thoughSmilie It's really close now, and I think we will hear a lot of stuff supposedly 'leaked' in advance, which will be blown away by Nintendo at the end of the week...     I think its a load of cachiau (look up what its welsh for, guys). It would be great, but I still think its a load of bullcachiau (hint). Also, @Marzy, we won't be getting third party Wiimotes. I SERIOUSLY doubt it anyway.
