Nintendo News | Metroid Prime 3 Tidbits

By Jorge Ba-oh 21.06.2006 38

A load of interesting morsels of information have hit the latest American magazine, Nintendo Power. An interview with Metroid Prime 3's producer and director have revealed a few updates on the final Prime game for Nintendo Wii.

  • Samus can go into "hyper mode" as she did in Super Metroid (SNES) at any time for enhanced abilities although increasing your chances of dying.
  • Cinematic improvements from previous additions with the Wii hardware being more powerful to work with than the GameCube.
  • Larger environments, bloom lighting, improved animations and more.
  • Samus can remotely control her ship - lifting huge objects, bombing, area scanning etc.
  • Nunchuck can be used as a grapple with flicking motion.
  • No Multiplayer will be included in the game, but Connect24 will be used.
  • Corruption will be the last in the Prime series, although Metroid will continue to be expanded and taken forward.
  • Stick with C3 for future updates.

If a game were made based on one of the Hunters it could potentially WILL ruin the series. It would also seem to be milking it a bit. I hope Hunters was a one off, the Metroid game that never quite made it. It would be nice to have, say, references in future Metroid games of the hunters though.
I hope that you get to fight alongside the Galactic Feds Troopers. Im a sucker for co-op modes.
Id hate that. Metroid is about the lone bounty hunter. Not the bounty hunter who needs help from some Galactic trooper.( Edited on 21.06.2006 17:43 by Monkeyman )

Dude, I agree with everything you've just said!! Except for one thing, but I'm sure it was just a mistake, so I just corrected it. Smilie

i dont remember that in super metroid except for maybe when you run real fast and then jump which hurts you.
I also think that htere should be more character interaction in metroid games, i loved how samus talked to the computer in fusion. Maybe Samus shouldnt be helped out by space federation troopers but perhaps there could be some side missions where you have to rescue a few of them.
The type of character interaction im interested in would be at that trooper base that you have to save which was shown at E3, maybe once you saved it you can go back to it where ever you like and talk to specific troopers about things like weapon upgrades or special techniques, and to explore further in to the base you would have to be authorised by certain troopers, authorisation could be allowed by doing something for that specific trooper or getting further in the game.

-Have you any idea what it's like to be a Fembot living in a Manbot's Manputer's world?
    -What?

That could be a very good idea Blade. Perhaps you could come across an injured Galactic Trooper who you rescue or something. One thing is for sure though, this game will not be as lonely as Prime what with the confirmation of another hunter in the game.

The other hunter is also a Vho, just like Noxus. He isn't Noxus but is another of his species. Whether or not he is an ally or enemy of Samus is unknown. Inclusion of Hunters as little references are a nice idea. Like the little tidbits Nintendo put in their Zelda games.

After the talk about the Metroid series, I had forgotten all about the side-scrollers. I had just presumed that 3D = First Person and 2D = 3rd Person Side Scroller. What path will they take next? I can't see them using the 1st person again any time soon after Corruption. At the same time, I've come accustomed to side-scrollers being on handhelds even though Super Metroid wasn't.

agree with Darkflame, the dark world in Echoes was unbelievable and executed so well. I loved it.

It was way too purple and it didn't vary your surroundings all that much. The weapons and enemies were nearly fully recycled from Prime. While Prime 2 did offer the Luminoths as some company, I wasn't satisfied with it. Therefore, in Corruption I look forward to the more modern-looking, populated surroundings.

OMIGOSH! This game! it sounds better and better by the second!
The bombing with the ship, the stacking beams, the hyper mode, IT'S ALL GOOD!!!

WOOOO! Larger areas!! I hate all those bloody corridors...

One thing though... She could go into hyper mode in Super Matroid!? O.o I don't remember that...

I still don't understand why they won't include multiplayer!!!

They'll probably release Metroid Prime Tournament or something...Trying to suck money out of usSmilie

Agreed. Hunters multiplayer is absolutely awesome and Echoes was an excellent game.

Some nice new pieces of information. I can't believe that there is no Multiplayer.Smilie I would have loved mutiplayer in Corruption. I hope there is a mutiplayer spin off like there was with Turok as someone mentioned before.

I totally disagree with you on almost all of the points that you made. First Samus is a bounty hunter that answers distress calls; this is how she arrived at the Space Pirates ship in Metroid Prime. In her travels, she could have met and assisted other bounty hunters. Remember the Space Pirates are trying to develop the metroids into biological weapons. Other races of beings could have fallen prey to the Space Pirates or have fought the Space Pirates and are trying to stop them from succeeding with their plans or may want the metroids for their own reasons. This is why a back story for the other bounty hunters in Metroid Prime Hunters would be ideal for the Metroid Universe and would expand it greatly.

Lol - so true! It would be awesome to play Metroid multiplayer online, a-la Hunters style. Darn!

A plain multi-player Metroid wouldn't be so bad. Perhaps if a "create-a-hunter" was part of it...

I Is Playing: SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL The only game I'll play for a long while.

I wish they would have installed a multiplayer mode.......it would have been a perfect time for the series to do an online multi player considering that this game is a launch title. Smilie

Metroid just doesn't work as multiplayer. End of.

Anyone who thinks hunters online is great has clearly never played a proper FPS.

Anyway, I think MP3 could turn out quite crap. I doubt it will be anywhere near the original. I don't like the idea of fighting with otehr people, as people have said, Samus is a lone bounty hunter. Part of what makes the metroid series is feeling alone on an odd strange planet, discovering things for yourself.

And the connect24 stuff..ewww...make the game properly first time kthx.
