Games A-Plenty Announced for the DS......Konami, EA & Namco Firmly Onboard, Plus More! With news just flowing out of every corner of the spherical globe that is Earth at the moment, we can bring you some extremely pleasing news with regards to support from two heayweights within the Industry - Electronic Arts and Konami. It has just been revealed that Konami is to be bringing a brand new version of its highly acclaimed and heavily-followed franchise Prince of Tennis to the Nintendo DS. Tennis no Ouji-Sama 2005 Crystal Drive will take full advantage of the DS system's two-screens, but as yet we know nothing about the use of the touch-screen, although it would be nice if Konami incorporated some stylus-control into the actual tennis gameplay, rather than for just the story sections of the game. On top of this there is the freshly uncovered Tiger Woods DS from EA Sports - a title that appears to have come out of nowhere, yet looks as if it is nearly completed already. The legendary US golfer seems to be wedged into a game that sports touch-screen stroke play and rather jagged N64 visuals. Then there is the fact that IGN has recently been seen as listing a version of Ridge Racer for the Nintendo DS, but rather than with Namco as the main developer, it is NST who steps up once more to take the reins - just as it did back in the days of the Nintendo 64, producing what is still thought to be the greatest version of the arcade racer to date, Ridge Racer 64. And then, to top it all off, Nintendo, HAL Laboratories and Shounen Jump magazine are all collaborating on a special DS project. Entitled Jump Superstars, the premise is one extremely similar to that of the immensely popular Super Smash Bros, except with characters from the equally popular (in Japan, at least) Jump properties like One Piece, Naruto and Dragon Ball. With both the DS screens being fully utilised, as well as the touch-screen, this project could prove to be the final nail in the Sony PSP's coffin even before it is born! Shigeru Miyamoto, in a moment of scary enthusiasm, mused over the upcoming title and said the following, "We're currently developing a revolutionary piece of software for the DS, a system that allows for unique play experiences unlike anything before. Please, look forward to the completely new form of entertainment that will result from this collaboration with Jump." More details are to be revealed on the 12th October, when the next issue of Jump hits the streets. So there you have it, support from all over, and great sounding support as well.
