Wario Ware | More Information

By Adam Riley 24.02.2003 1

So, what do we know about Made In Wario so far? It will be released in Japan on the 21st March, 2003 - and when it comes to the US it will be re-titled Wario Ware, Inc: Mega Microgame$. Oh, and apparently it will simply be a mini-games title.

So not too much is known then?

Well, finally we are able to shed some more light on this game. First of all it will be part of a new genre by the name of "instantaneous action". This means that the title will include many short sub-games, some reported to last as long as two-seconds!

Made in Wario is to feature the most mini-games found in a Nintendo title ever, with every one simply lasting a few seconds. Some of these will be completely original, whereas others will be based on existing Nintendo products such as Mario, Zelda and Metroid. An 'prime' example would be where you are placed in the final battle of Metroid and must attempt to defeat Mother Brain by pressing as many buttons as you can! F-Zero gets a look-in as well, with you being dropped into a race, having to either pass a certain vehicle or survive a nasty long-jump.

There are likely to be many other Nintendo classics that Made In Wario will pay homage to, but the specifics are currently under guard at Nintendo HQ. What is becoming clearer each day, though, is that this is definitely going to be one of the most frantic games around on release!

Two-player action will also be supported - but, rather unconventionally, not via a link cable. Instead, two friends will have to hunch over a GBA, with one using the D-Pad and L-button, the other using the other side of the handheld (which should be a barrel of laughs when using a GBA: SP!). Whether this will work successfully or not is another matter, but at least it shows yet more innovation from Camp Nintendo.
