Nintendo has won against a court case from 2013 revolving around the Wii Balance Board.
Back in 2013, Ithaca Ventures and Ithaca Development sued Nintendo, suggesting how the popular Wii Balance Board accessory infringed its patent. Nintendo seeked sanctions for filing a meritless case, with Ithaca then withdrawing its case following finding by a German court that Ithaca's European patent could not cover the Wii Balance Board.
Because of this, Ithaca must pay Nintendo's attorneys' fees.
Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Richard Medway of Nintendo of America reiterated Nintendo's stance to "vigorously defend its innovations against patent lawsuits, and will not pay to resolve meritless accusations, no matter whether the case is filed in the United States or elsewhere."
