Steel Diver: Sub Wars has seen plenty of updates since its launch in February of this year, and the torrent doesn't seem to be letting up just yet, with Version 4.0 release today.
As well as a number of fixes, the update brings a new microtransaction - for the cost of 89p, a single submarine can be remodeled in order to allow it to carry up to six crew members. This should come as welcome news for those who enjoy using a particular sub but find that its capacity simply doesn't match up to the others.
Another exciting new feature for players who have not yet purchased the full game is that they can sample the free-to-play version even more now, as Version 4.0 removes the Play Coin limit for online battles.
A bug has also been fixed which previously caused damage to be caused to the player upon sinking an enemy's ship. Interestingly, game director Takaya Imamura thanked Miiverse for bringing this glitch to his attention - yet more reason to get involved with Nintendo's intuitive social network, as it appears developers really do check the comments on their games!
Other features and fixes include a change to the way that subs are angled when they dive and submerge so as to make it easier to evade fire; an increase to the defence strength of subs with a health of six or more to improve game balance; crew that have already been rescued no longer re-appearing during single player missions; Matched-Skills Battle functionality for players between levels 30 and 49; and new starting positions in the Hot Springs stage to more closely match Version 1.0.
