Nintendo's Scott Moffitt has praised efforts of eSports tournament in boosting the success of Super Smash Bros.
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Moffitt noted how eSports, competitive and streamed tournaments, have "helped rekindle gamers' love for this franchise and really prepare the environment for a fantastic launch."
The executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America believes that "the record sales are due to a lot of the pre-awareness activity that has gone on, including eSports." Moffitt used examples of Nintendo's efforts with eSports at E3 and the recent tailgate tour to highlight the strong " enthusiasm for the franchise."
