Character Deforming Glitch in Smash Bros. Wii U

One Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U player has encountered a strange, character disfiguring glitch.

The peculiar glitch suddenly happened within battle, with characters getting deformed - King Dedede in particular. Characters become, literally, flattened, with chunks of polygons missing and even some wandering about headless. It's certainly not a glitch for the faint of heart.

It isn't yet certain how to replicate the glitch, nor if it's limited to certain copies of the game - rather than something across all versions.
