Little Mac Has the Lowest Win/Loss Ratio in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS has been out for just over a month now, and that's plenty of time for players to have worked out which characters are better than others. One character that has been heavily criticised for being overpowered is Little Mac.

It may, therefore, come as a shock to fans of the game to find that Little Mac actually has the lowest win ratio in the game's online multiplayer rankings of all characters. It's theorised that this is due to the fact that, because of the consensus that he is the strongest character in the game, many novice players head online with him but lose to players with more practice.

In his weekly column for Famitsu magazine, Sakurai explains further:

"For Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the individual character win ratios lined up nicely in a staircase format, but (in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS) one fighter has a significantly low ratio. It's Little Mac."

"It appears that the biggest reason for his low win ratio is because people fall under the assumption that 'Little Mac is strong!' and all rush to use him only to get pummeled in return. He gives the impression of being able to win easier than other fighters which leads to more people using him, but in reality, he's a difficult character to actually continuously win with."

"Little Mac is a fighter with very pronounced strengths and weaknesses. While he has an enhanced dodge and megaton-level punch for aggressive play, he has very weak jump power and a simple back throw along with a follow-up attack prove to be crippling."

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is available now. It will be joined by Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on November 28th.

Are you a Little Mac fan? Or do you curse your 3DS every time he shows up in For Glory mode? Let us know.

So where's the rest of the list? Would be really interesting to see that. I've mained with Kirby since the N64 but I'm maining with Samus now, I'd say my win rate with Samus is 60% and Cpt Falcon is quite high too!

Welp, sorry guys, that drop in win ratio was none other than me.
I am uber bad at smash and though i'd give Lil Mac a go and this happened.
I feel solely responsible for what has happened seeing as I've won 2 out of the 18 matches
i've played online (all as Lil Mac). :/

Why not try with a different character then? I don't like Little Mac at all, I don't understand those that use him!

Like Sakurai said it's mostly presumptions from people going in without taking the time to know a new fighter. I've practiced with him but yeah he's tough to use & helpless in the air. I'm learning Shulk & liking him & the improved Zero Suit Sams more & more. Standard Samus & nerfed Marth are still my mains though Lucinia is winning me over as I play her.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
