Duck Hunt Announced for Wii U Virtual Console on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo have officially announced that their NES classic Duck Hunt will soon be arriving on the Wii U Virtual Console, marking the first time it has been available since its original release.

Duck Hunt was released as a launch title for the NES and was later bundled with the console along with Super Mario Bros., which carried the game to popularity. It was notable for being one of few games to use the NES Zapper lightgun.

The announcement was made after official confirmation of the unlockable Duck Hunt Duo in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, introducing the infamous dog from the game as a fighter alongside a duck.

Further details have not been made clear, although the announcement did confirm that a Wii Remote would be necessary to play the game, suggesting that the lightgun controls would remain the same.

No release window has yet been announced, but stay tuned to Cubed3 for more details.
