The Nintendo Conference is underway, and is going very well indeed. So far the company has shown off Metroid Prime: Echoes, StarFox (which is was shown as 'November'). They also showed off Capcom's Resident Evil 4.

Now Nintendo are commenting on how great they are (no change there then). They have been having a dig at both Sony and Microsoft, saying that the company 'Doesn't mind what you do, so long as you do it on their operating system'. Very interesting indeed. Nintendo are also promising that the company will be moving forward, with new games and news ways to relate to games.

This is not a promise for the future, it is a promise for right now. The company states that whilst others are talking, they (Nintendo) are acting. It would seem that they have some big things planned for the future!

As we type right now, Geroge Harrison is approaching the stage. Harrison is pointing out that industry growth has been non-existent without Nintendo, using graphs to demonstrate a massive increase and growth in industry sales. What you have to take into account this is the Nintendo Conference and the company always say how good they are at what they do.

Nintendo are now looking at various statistics, showing that Nintendo have sold more games per system than Microsoft, and are fast closing in on Sony. He points out that the GameCube has been a huge success, and will continue to be so. He points out that success of a console always relies on three things:

  • hardcore and immediate fans
  • people that want gaming and entertainment that it easy to get into and enjoy
  • characters that people know and feel comfortable with
  • and finally good prices.

    Harrison moves on to talk about the GameCube's price drops worldwide, and how it boosted the console's sales massively, showing that people like cheap prices, and that Nintendo realise this.

    Nintendo talk about how they want to appeal to the casual gamer, and plan to extend the GameCube catalogue to over 400 games.

    He points out that the GameBoy 'owns the portable console market' and goes onto talk about the much criticised Pok
