The latest Super Smash Bros update reveals a new cameo from a classic Game Boy game.

Today's Miiverse update for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS confirms the appearance of a sword-wielding prince of the Sablé Kingdom. Featured in the Japan-only Game Boy game, Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (translated as The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls), the Sablé Prince transforms into a snake or frog to let loose multiple attacks on foes within his dust cloud.

I have! It's pretty fun. There's a fan translation out there...I think...unless my memory betrays me. It was a bit like Link's Awakening.

Where's Rudy?

Ruuuuuddddyyyyy!!!!!

Didn't you also try it?

So it's top-down Zelda-esque? I'd be well up for a bit of that!

Wasn't it top-down on the overworld and side-scrolling in dungeons or something? Recall it being almost identical looking to LA. Wouldn't mind trying it.

It's a Miyamoto game as well, so can't be bad. Has a bit of a cult following, so it's great to see a return. Sequel on the horizon?

Retro review of the GB game a possibility by someone? Hope so Smilie

Care to post a link for the rom of the fan translation Adam? Don't forget to include a US version too please.

No can do on here, I'm afraid, but if you search on Google it'll come up, I'm sure. GBA Temp might have it as well.

romhacking.net should have it, it's the place to look for for most if not all known finished translation projects. They only give you the patches though, you'll have to find a rom on your own.

Have you played it, Rudy? Could have sworn we've talked about it in the past...

Ah sorry, didn't see your message above Smilie.

I remember trying the translation very briefly but didn't go too far, because i was, as always, distracted by other stuff coming out. Might get back to it someday though. I mostly remember the game for having a character which got reused in Link's Awakening Smilie.

Really? Which character did they recycle into Link's Awakening?

Sounds good actually, may look into this one - they didn't mention whether he's an assist, but I'd assume so!
