E3 2014 | More Graphical Styles for Mario Maker, Possible Music Composer on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Mario producer Takashi Tezuka recently talked about wanting to expand Mario Maker into other graphical styles.

In an interview, Tezuka noted how "there would be other graphical styles included", but nothing has been decided just yet. He would also like to "include other graphics that aren't Mario", but it will always remain a 2D platformer.

The E3 demo is just a sliver of what Nintendo aim to provide with the final version, with plans to include more enemy/object types, plus possibly a music composition feature that's similar to Mario Paint.

The team are working on internet sharing/Miiverse integration, and Tezuka is mindful of a desire for players to share levels with friends as it's "really the whole point of making levels."

What features/graphical styles are you hoping to see in Mario Maker?

They'll make hundreds of people happy if they let you compose your own music in a fashion that's as easy and straight forward as Mario Paint Composer was. Suffice to see all the videos on youtube of covers of well-known tracks, made in MPC, to see how popular that function was!

Would love it if they would include objects, enemies, and graphical styles from Yoshi's Island, DK Country, and Sonic, and also allow us to switch between characters from the different games to run through the levels with.

I've always loved level editors -- spent inordinate amounts of time making them in Time Splitters 2 back in the day. That this is coming to classic Mario gameplay is huge!

I wonder if you could get an item from New Super Mario Bros., for example the Mega Mushroom, and use it in the art style of Super Mario Bros.

One style i would like to see is Super Mario Bros. 3.
It would also be cool if you could combine things from different games, like Super Mario Advance 4 did.

Even from the basic demo they showed at E3, it was possible to create some really challenging and unique stages. I can't wait to see how they develop it even further.

Sonic - Yes please.
Yoshi - why not.
Kirby - yep!

All would be great Smilie

i wonder if they will let us create worlds/lands with say 5 user created levels and the ability to post it online.

its ashame we dont have an achievement system. this would be the perfect game to do something with those stars/points: beat my level/world get x amount of stars/points..... aw cant wait for this
