As well as detailing the Wii U version of Sonic Boom, SEGA also outlined the differences with the portable edition of the game, for Nintendo 3DS.
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is a standalone version of the game for 3DS that features key characters and events from the Sonic Boom storyline, as poor Amy gets kidnapped by villain Lyric. The 3DS release is pitched to be more of a side-scrolling affair, placing more emphasis on puzzles and classic mechanics. Content uncovered in the 3DS version can then be transferred onto the Wii U using Wi-Fi.
Various previews also highlight that there won't be multiplayer in the 3DS version, but will focus swap-able characters to solve specific puzzles.
Both Wii U and 3DS versions will be shown off in more detail and playable at this year's E3 Expo.
