Nintendo held a Mario Kart Direct presentation today, revealing a slew of new information and new trailer for the upcoming Wii U racer.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, joined by various presenters for each region, detailed some of the extra features and promotions for the game, including the ability to upload video replays to YouTube and a "Super Horn" item that can defend against blue shells.
- A new Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle for America, including a Deluxe Wii U, Wii Remote Plus and Wii Wheel.
- Buy Mario Kart 8 and register by 31st July to get a free Wii U game download.
- 12 Player online returns, with four different modes, lobby voice chat and tournaments.
- Video replays can be uploaded to Miiverse and even YouTube.
- Players can race against course ghosts from other Mario Kart 8 owners around the globe.
- A new "Super Horn" item was announced, which knockout players and items in the nearby area, even defending against the blue shell.
- A "Crazy Eight" item spawns eight random items to help recovery from those dipping near last place.
- Two new racers were announced: Pink Gold Peach, baby Rosalina plus support for Mii characters.
