Watch Dogs Still on Track for Wii U, Release Date Uncertain on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Ubisoft have disclosed details on why the Wii U version of Watch Dogs has seen a delay. Fortunately, it's still alive.

Speaking on the Wii U version specifically, Ubisoft senior producer Dominic Guay confirmed that Ubisoft Bucharest is crafting the Wii U version, whilst Montreal is taking the lead on other platforms.

The main reason that the game isn't hitting Wii U systems on May 27th is to allow the team "the time to explore the GamePad and be able to have fun with it and see how far they could push." To ensure the Wii U version gets a dose of TLC, Ubisoft intend to "take the time we need" to make sure it makes "good use of the specifics of the Wii U."

Despite this, Ubisoft aren't willing to postpone the launch of the other versions.

A release date, however, is still uncertain but it's "considered within the year". The game will remain the same on Wii U, but "we'll adapt for the needs of the specific needs", Guay said.

Glad they are looking to really tune it to the system,

For Wii U specifically, it's probably best that it's not coming out at practically the same time as Mario Kart 8, but overall this delay is ultimately only going to hurt sales of the Wii U version.

So long as this doesn't hurt future Ubi projects on Wii U because they HAVE to realise that most people who own a Wii U won't hold off just for that version if they really want to play it (I'm the kind of person who would and who WILL do it, but I know I'm in a very specific minority Smilie)

They should delay all version sof the game.  They were willing to do so with the of Rayman Legends WiiU.   If it is delayed compared to other versions it  will surely kill the sales of the WiiU version.

I'm a bit shocked that they got the Wii U team to work on the other versions... That's just harsh.
