Rosalina Announced for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During Nintendo Direct today, Satoru Iwata revealed the first glimpse of a new character for the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. that's out of this world.

2013 may be the Year of Luigi, but it's also shaping up to be a fab one for another Mario character - Rosalina - who has been confirmed to appear as a playable character in the new Super Smash Bros. game on Wii U and 3DS. She'll be joined by her starry buddy Luma for a wide range of majestic moves and projectile-based attacks.

Super Smash Bros. is still on track for a 2014 release on Wii U and 3DS.

The Gusty Garden Galaxy music always makes me want to play the game again, Rosilina looks like a great edition.

Glad to see she isn't just a palette swap of peach. I wonder it she's replacing Ice Climbers given her 2 character control play style?

During the Direct i thought smash at first but then i thought Kirby in Mario kart??? Really??

Lol, Smash is looking to be good though! Can't wait...

Although i am still hoping for Professor Layton, Pheonix Wright and a few other characters from Wii/WiiU/3DS IP's to make the cut!

Sakurai is pretty picky when it comes to including other non Nintendo IPs, don't expect Ken, Ryu, Jin, Haiachi, Kasumi, Hayate, Taki or Nightmare since he feels realistic fighters don't fit in with Smash Bros.

Am hoping for more female characters in general - it's looking like it's going in that direction. Needs at least a female sword player (perhaps someone from Fire Emblem) and Zero Suit Samus to be a separate character (not a post-smash).

Maybe Krystal from Starfox Adventures, though maybe too niche.

No characters from Brawl will be cut apparently, also Rosalina needs to summon that Luma. It isn't constantly their I think:

I must say the character animation and models look incredible - light, detailed and well designed but it's the background texture work that needs improving really.

And that Luma is freakishly big - imagine seeing on in reality?

Yeah except WW Link still looks weird with the cellshading missing.

Ok thanks for the info L, all Nintendo characters will be back which is good cause Wolf was one of my best...gonna miss Snake though. =(

Great trailer, I'm glad Rosalina is still getting some of the action even after SMG1 and 2! I think she's a great character in general.

Well i wasn't asking for them per se, but Layton and Wright have made a few significant appearances (near exclusive) on the DS. What about characters from Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, Disaster Day of Crisis, Sin and Punishment among others!

Well Saki from S&P was an assist trophy but yeah I'd LOVE to see Shulk, Rayne & Mechanised Fiora in this one...heck even the Zack Fair esce character in the new trailer for X!!

All these would be awesome! Phoenix Wright/Layton might be tricky, but characters from Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower and S&P would be likely imo - any true Nintendo exclusive franchise would make the cut imo. Am sure Namco Bandai would want one or two of their characters in there for good measure.
Am thinking someone from Tales would be the likely fit and bode well with fan-service. Am hoping for someone from Soul Calibur like Mitusurgi / Sophitia but I doubt it
