Latest Mario Kart 8 Update Takes Players Above the Clouds on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo revealed new tracks and characters for the much anticipated new Mario Kart game for Wii U.

Racing into living rooms in Spring 2014, Mario Kart 8 redefines the series in HD, with an assortment of familiar faces and gravity-defying new courses to compete within.

In today's Nintendo Direct update, company boss Satoru Iwata lifted the lid on new characters - Rosalina of Super Mario Galaxy fame and various "Baby" characters like Baby Mario and Luigi. Players will also take-off in a new airport course and a circuit that takes place high above the clouds.

The game is still on track for a Spring 2014 release.

Can't wait for this! The footage of Mariokart at E3 propelled me to buy a Wii U.

I just watched the trailer on the eShop because that one isn't a shitty, compressed version you get on YouTube and the like. Looks stunning! Rosalina is awesome and may end up being my main. Smilie

That trailer was awesome. The airport track looks incredible!
