Nintendo revealed a bevvy of gameplay footage for upcoming Wii U and 3DS titles including Mario, Smash Bros and Zelda.
The latest Nintendo direct was presented by Satoru Iwata and Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata, covering key titles for the rest of 2013, plus a few surprises for next year. Missed out? Not to worry, be sure to catch-up on all the latest updates and watch the presentations again below.
Wii U Updates
- A Wii U System Update was launched today - improve performance, install recommended software automatically, browser fixes and off-TV Support for Wii games.
- Nintendo demo-ed a lengthy montage of gameplay footage for Super Mario 3D World, including new abilities, cloning cherries and an extended look at the Cat transformation.
- Sonic the Hedgehog was confirmed as a returning character for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- Nintendo also announced an updated for Pikmin 3, improving Global Rankings and adding DLC packs for Mission Mode.
- Nintendo revealed new designs for the Wii Remote Plus - Mario and Luigi branded designs in red and green.
- A release date for Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games was confirmed as 8th November in Europe and 15th November in North America.
- New trailer and events revealed for the family-friendly Wii Party U, launching on 25th October.
- Wii Karaoke U out this week, 4th October, with 1,500 songs available at launch.
- Scribblenauts Unlimited confirmed for launch on Nintendo Wii U and 3DS on 6th December.
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze delayed in Europe, will now arrive in 2014.
3DS Updates
- Nintendo announced a brand new Kirby installment for the Nintendo 3DS, due for release in 2014.
- More details for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds revealed - Link will be able to purchase/rent weapons and tackle later dungeons in any order. Due for release in 22nd November.
- Bravely Default confirmed for a 6th December release, together with a Collector's Edition and an exclusive art-book for those who pre-order.
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies - will launch on 24th October, together with English voice work. A free demo is available on the eShop now.
- Mario Party: Island Tour was delayed to 2014 in Europe.
