Bravely Default: For the Sequel Announced for Nintendo 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

UPDATE 02/09:
For the Sequel has been confirmed as the edition heading outside Japan.

ORIGINAL STORY:
RPG giant Square Enix have confirmed that an expanded edition of Bravely Default is in development.

Pitched as Bravely Default: For the Sequel, the upcoming project is an "evolution" of the Nintendo 3DS debut, adding new events, revised controls together with an auto-battle and interesting quad-speed battle feature. It'll hit stores in Japan on December 5th, with a cheaper digital download option (2,900 yen vs the 4,900 yen physical price).

Usability has also been spruced up, with three save slots and the option to tweak the game's difficulty level.

For those wanting to migrate from the original game, For the Sequel can use the same save data.

Nintendo was asked about localisation, but has declined to comment.

I really, really hope we'll be getting this updated version instead. It doesn't sound like anything major but still some very nice additions for an overall better experience.

Wasn't it Dragon Quest Joker 2 where Square gave us the original version despite an improved version already being released long before in Japan? I hope they don't rePeat that!

The fact of the matter is that while Bravely Default is currently being localized, a better version is being worked on at the same time. So hopefully, we'll be getting the better version right away. It's not exactly like we'll be getting the old version AFTER the better one gets released in Japan. We know it's 2013 for Europe, but they didn't say exactly when. Could be a week or two after Japan, right before Christmas. You never know Smilie.
