During Nintendo's latest investors meeting, company boss Satoru Iwata commented on upcoming unannounced Nintendo Wii U software.
It's undeniable that the Nintendo Wii U has suffered from a game drought in its early months. It launched with a solid set of titles but has trickled off into the start of 2013. With the likes of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World incoming, Nintendo's fortunes are likely to take a u-turn towards the end of the year.
However, fans still questioned the lack of non-Mario franchises and new games into 2014. Iwata tried to ease investor and fan concerns by highlighting that "there are more unannounced Wii U titles coming by 2014" and there was more information that Nintendo couldn't announce during E3. Reason being that there "new game types that would lessen the impact or allow competitors to possibly copy".
What about introducing a new IP to the long roster of established Nintendo names? Iwata feels that the current character-lead games are a strength and that "you don't have to start by creating new characters in order to present new ways to play or new ways to use media."
