Iwata: Unannounced Wii U Games Coming by 2014 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During Nintendo's latest investors meeting, company boss Satoru Iwata commented on upcoming unannounced Nintendo Wii U software.

It's undeniable that the Nintendo Wii U has suffered from a game drought in its early months. It launched with a solid set of titles but has trickled off into the start of 2013. With the likes of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World incoming, Nintendo's fortunes are likely to take a u-turn towards the end of the year.

However, fans still questioned the lack of non-Mario franchises and new games into 2014. Iwata tried to ease investor and fan concerns by highlighting that "there are more unannounced Wii U titles coming by 2014" and there was more information that Nintendo couldn't announce during E3. Reason being that there "new game types that would lessen the impact or allow competitors to possibly copy".

What about introducing a new IP to the long roster of established Nintendo names? Iwata feels that the current character-lead games are a strength and that "you don't have to start by creating new characters in order to present new ways to play or new ways to use media."

What franchises and titles are you hoping Nintendo will announce in the coming months?

I am really hoping for a new F-zero or metroid, even a starfox, i honestly just want them to bring back a game that hasnt had a game in awhile

I just want Metroid dammit!

Metroid is all I want, all I need!

I wouldn't mind a Geist game...

FunFact: That is actually Reggie's personal GamePad in the pic. It is still too small for his MASSIVE HANDS.

Unless another dev team besides Retro is working on a Metroid title, I highly doubt that is one of the games. Metroid was what I was most looking forward to E3 for. *Sigh*... Another Geist game would be nice. Personally, I loved the first one.

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.

It's strange to admit this but I really hope that one of them is Wii Sports U.

As a Nintendo fan, I still believe they should make new IP's. I don't see why they don't want to...

agreed.
Its new gameplay thats important, not new characters.

New characters are only needed if they dont fit the new gameplay.

F-Zero anyone?

Simple answer is they cost more to make, and nobody seems to buy them. The last Mario Party probably outsold the last story, xenoblade and pandora's tower combined.
