Shovel Knight Meets Kickstarter Target, Moves onto Stretch Goals on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Shovel Knight, the debut project from Yacht Club Games, has been backed by over 3,000 investors and has met its Kickstarter goal.

With two weeks to go at time of writing, the project is now met its initial funding checkpoint and seems set to go well beyond the $75,000 minimum. Now that the project has been funded by the community, it's onto the bonus or stretch goals - extra content that the studio are committing to if they reach a certain level of funding.

With additional money, Yacht Club Games would be able to include more playable characters, challenge mode, an interestingly titled and convention breaking "gender swap" feature plus a multiplayer battle mode.

Shovel Knight is heading to PC, Wii U eShop and 3DS eShop.

Will or have you pledged towards Shovel Knight? What do you think of the retro concept?

This is great. The demo playthrough on Twitch yesterday looked great, a strange mix of Duck Tales and Mega Man. Nice pixel art, nice music. Very exciting looking game!

Watched a bit of it. Has a lot of Zelda 2 about it, as well. If Nintendo won't make another, this looks to be the next best thing.

Definitely! One of the developers kept talking about how much he liked Zelda 2.

I've already put my money into the Kickstarter. Hopefully they reach some of their stretch goals.

WOOOT sweet I'll be downloading this day ONE once it's finished!!

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
