Project X Zone Coming to Europe, Australasia and North America in Summer 2013 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Namco Bandai has some fantastic news for Nintendo 3DS fans today. The company has announced that it will be bringing the strategy crossover game Project X Zone to Europe and Australasia in the Summer of 2013. IGN is also reporting that the game will be headed to North America at the same time, and Latin America consumers will be able to get their hands on it, too.

Project X Zone (Project "Cross" Zone) is a tactical role-playing game that brought franchises from Namco Bandai, SEGA and Capcom together, and was designed as a sequel to Namco X Capcom on PlayStation 2. Banpresto and Monolith Soft helped develop the Nintendo 3DS game, which launched in Japan last October.

Fans outside of Japan have long been hoping that the game would make it to their shores, and now Europeans, those in the Australasian region, and North Americans can rejoice at this news. We know that the game will be a physical release, but there is no word on whether it will be made available on the eShop just yet. The localised version will be keeping all of the original Japanese voices intact, and will receive English subtitles in place of English voice overs, Destructoid reports.

What do our readers think of the news of Project X Zone getting localised for regions outside of Japan? Will you buying the game when it launches in Summer 2013? Leave your comments below.

Wow this was completely unexpected given the performance of the game over in Japan. Great stuff though, so many awesome franchises!

Yeah definitely interested in this, was beginning to think it was a lost cause.

YAYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY EXCITEMENT CANNOT BE CONTAINED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SmilieDD

Fantastic news. Having subtitles only is expected for the localisation of such a game to happen, since it saves money, but I don't mind that at all. It's also partly developed by Monolith Soft, so I'm very curious.

Yet another title added to the 2013 3DS lineup. How much better could it possibly get?...Smilie

Japanese dialogue + fanservice galore? Certainly a niche title but I hope it gets good sales as they're going to the effort of localising it.

Now I'm trying to decide if this excites me or not, it doesn't sound that amazing but it sure as hell looks cool with all the characters and stuff in it.. Smilie

Namco X Capcom never made it outside of Japan, right?

So this is indeed excellent news Smilie. A definite buy for me at least. Let's hope now it will come as a retail package, and then I can really be happy.

Namco X Capcom was Japan only.

And Project X Zone will be retail.

We know that the game will be a physical release, but there is no word on whether it will be made available on the eShop just yet.

I know that, but I'll believe it when I see it (because of all those game we were supposed to get at retail originally, then the publishers got cold feet in the end)

Code of Princess wasn't ever announced for retail over here, was it?

It was at first I'm pretty sure, or at least implied to be getting a publisher, but in the end it's not getting a publisher at all.

Agatsuma said they were "taking some time to close the deal" regarding COP coming here. Possibly suggesting working with a publisher, but hardly anything concrete. They never announced a retail version only to change their minds. If anything, most people expected an eShop COP release.

I was just genuinely interested in Rudy's answers, because I don't think I knew of any games announced for retail here and then cancelled for the eShop instead.

Either way, Namco has said PXZ will be a physical release. I see no reason to for them to change any of that.

I was under that impression as well.

Nano Assault is coming at retail after all in Europe, but it's going to be the inferior version, while the best one is eShop only.

Unchained Blades was also planned for a retail release at first in NA I think, but it's only coming to the eShop after all.

Hokuto no Ken 2 on Wii U isn't coming out at retail in Europe, but only on eShop while the other consoles get a retail package.

Anyway my point wasn't so much that actual games get relegated to eShop, but rather that this being a trend at the moment, BanNam might get cold feet anyway after all, because it's cheaper to just release it on eShop rather than getting those cartridges manufactured (It's a wonder in itself that the game gets localized, already).

Awesome, I'm definitely excited to give this one a try! Smilie

Oh, your initial post said that, so that's why I had to ask.

It's probably best to just not assume every game announced for here will always be a retail game, unless they out and out say so. Then you can complain if they decide to cancel the retail release in place of digital.

But when you get Namco replying to people saying it will be a physical release, I do not see them going back on their word, else there'll be a lot of horrible reaction for "lying" to them. But I see why you'd rather see it on the shelf for yourself to actually believe.

They did it in the past with Baten Kaitos Origins, it's been announced for Europe for what seemed like ages and nothing ever came out of their lies... So it wouldn't be the first time coming from BanNam, I'm wary of those guys. I was smart enough to import at that time, thanks to the freeloader on GC, but there's no such things anymore for region-locked consoles, since Nintendo blocks these things with software updates since the Wii.
