Classic SEGA arcade gem Space Harrier is heading to the 3DS with a visual enhancement as part of the "3D Classics" line.
Confirmed as Japan-only for now, Space Harrier 3-D is built on the foundation of the original game, but with the option to output with stereoscopic 3D effects, much like the 3DS revamp of Kid Icarus.
Space Harrier, released back in 1985 was one of the first titles to use SEGA's Super Scaler technology to give a pseudo-3D effect, with over 32,000 colours pushed on the screen at one time. It used a third-person character that blased through a surreal "Fantasy Zone", packed to the brim with the likes of dragons, aliens and elephants.
The Master System also received a sequel to Space Harrier in 3D that required the use of 3D glasses to work.
