Capcom Comments on Monster Hunter Wii U Community on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

After a roaring start in the US, newly acquired Wii U owners have been enjoying the community feel of Miiverse with posting up comments and pictures in specific game subsections. However, one of the bigger Wii U titles on the horizon may not have that luxury it seems.

When asked about the possibility of a Monster Hunter community on Miiverse, as not all launch games currently have one, the Associate Community/Online Specialist of Capcom USA had the following to say;

You guessed it: no plans at this time.
But I got it - I will "bring it up around the office. Pester some folks. Call in a favor" for ya.

Would any future MH3U buyers like to see a Miiverse community built around it?

Kudos to Linkyshinks for the heads up.

I thought the Miiverse was a system application and almost every game, even many obscure ones, so far has an entry?

I'd be really disappointed if MH3U doesn't have a Miiverse entry. It doesn't have to be integrated in the game at all like NSMBU, just have the basic community for the game there. It would be really useful to find hunters of your skill level and generally arrange hunts more easily than using the in-game search function for lobbies.

That's really quite bizzare - though it was the most piss-easy thing to add. It's like, Nintendo - add new game to system. Add an icon for the game and some details. Bingo! Or does it require more intervention from the publisher because of the need to prevent spoilers?

That's what I thought too, they just add the game and it's like a new thread in a forum. If something like Funky Barn can have an entry on Miiverse, MH3U can too. Smilie

Trololol - the game that missed the cut on C3's Buyer's guide.

He's posted again:

Wow that escalated quickly... allow me to make things a bit clearer:
1) we are taking MH very seriously, and analyzing every possible option for the growth of the brand in the West.
2) we've made no plans for Miiverse at this time. If we end making plans or not, that will be announced/answered at some point in the future. So please be patient as we iron out the details of all of the game's features. Like I said, I will ask around and see what really is happening.

I assumed he was talking about in-game Miiverse applications. Showing players comments during loading screens sounds like something that could work. Smilie

Anyway, I don't plan on buying this game. I'll hold out until the Wii U version of MH4.

Yeah, this is what I was assuming. Like SirLink mentioned, if games like Funky Barn have a community in Miiverse, I can't see why this won't. Smilie

This sounds a lot more like a guy not wanting to say anything this early out than a definite "not going to happen".

I also had assumed a Miiverse community was something that happened on Nintendo's end, not each game's publisher.

He's just a messenger. He only tells people what he's been told himself. Images shown of the Japanese Miiverse seem to pretty much confirm that there will be a Monster Hunter Community. I also assumed Nintendo were the ones who dealt with the creation of communities, but who knows?

I'm actually really torn on whether to get this game for Wii U or for 3DS. I was leaning toward Wii U (especially since if they bring MH4 to America I can get my handheld MH fill from that) and this isn't  a dealbreaker at all, but if there ends up being no Miiverse support I'll be a little sad.
