It's financials time for Nintendo, with the global gaming giant posting figures for Q1 2013.
For fiscal year 2013, which runs from April 1st 2012 through to March 31st 2013, Nintendo's first three months (April to June) resulted in lower losses than in the previous year.
- Net sales were ¥84.8 billion ($1.09 billion USD), down from last year's ¥93.9 billion ($1.20 billion USD).
- Losses for this period came to ¥17.2 billion ($220.5 million USD), lower than last year's rather high loss of ¥25.5 billion ($326.5 million).
- Nintendo has sold 19 Million units worldwide and are hoping to rack up at least 18.5 million more in the next fiscal year.
- In the last quarter 1.86 million 3DS units were sold, and the system is finally being produced with profit.
Nintendo are hoping that with the upcoming Nintendo 3DS XL and New Super Mario Bros. 2, that sales will continue to pick up for the new system. 3DS hardware and software sales continue to rise, but with the upcoming release of the Wii U and slowing DS, sales have taken a slight dip in the figures department.
