3DS Gets Seaman and Other 3rd Party Classics on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

3D can a nifty solution for reinvigorating classic franchises and Nintendo hope to do this with third party greats.

In a report with the online edition of Japanese paper Nikkei, the House of Mario confirmed that as part of the growing 3DS line-up, there are plans to revive past franchises from third party studios. The first in what will likely be a large basket of remakes comes in the form of Yoot Saito's popular cult hit Seaman.

The report touched on the 2000 Dreamcast project will eventually be brought to the 3DS in someway, whether a port or a completely new game is uncertain.

Unfamiliar with Seaman? Here's a short clip that will give you all the fishy antics you'll likely ever want:

I pray this is true. Smilie

Don't you just love Seaman? Now, thanks to 3D, it's like we'll have Seaman all over our faces...

Delicious! Smilie

On a serious note, hopefully Yoot Saito brings The Tower and Odama to 3DS as well...

LOL Adam - I resisted it writing this article, but I guess you're quicker to cave to Seaman pressure Smilie

Odama would be top notch! Needed more exposure on the GC for sure.

Yeah, good call to not spread it all over... Smilie

The idea of reviving classics makes me yearn for things like Breath of Fire. Makes an interesting topic, actually - 'What Long Lost Games Should be Revived?' Smilie

So long as Leonard Nimoy reprises his roll for Seaman I'll be happy...I love his soooothing logical voice. I could play with HIS Seaman all day!!

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

I'm all for this, already got the original. Yoot Saito has Tweeted on the subject of making a 3DS game. I expect something new.
