Nintendo and Kojima have been playing very coy over the last year with news on Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater: The Naked Sample, and E3 has yet to change that unfortunately. However, for those of you new to the sample they have released a slew of backlog information and some of the new features they are incorporating into their remake.
In the aftermath of the Second World War, the world has been torn into two factions, East and West - the beginning of the cold war. With nuclear weapons deployed in Cuba, the world trebles with the fear of nuclear war looming closer than ever before. Negotiations were made and the soviets withdrew their weaponry from the American borders, signalling the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis. However, a Soviet scientist that had defected to the west was sent back to the Soviet union; little did they know that he was the designer of a nightmarish weapon - and the beginning of a new age of fear. Henceforth, the CIA plan to recapture the ex-defector and dispatch the covert FOX unit, a lone soldier who swoops down. Codenamed Naked Snake.
Players can expect to experience the world of Metal Gear in full auto-stereoscopic 3D which creates a huge rich jungle world full of immersion. New features such as the 'Photo Camo' system utilises the 3DS' cameras to snap real world photo's and have them reflected in game to keep Snake hidden from his enemies, and quick navigation of menus via the touch screen should things get hairy to keep him alive. Kojima have also implemented the Gyro sensor to help players climb trees, traverse bridges and navigate through other environmental obstacles.
