According to Nintendo Power classic arcade ninja game Shinobi is returning to the 3DS. Leaked, teaser trailer awaits your eyes!
New Details - Via Nintendo Power:
The latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine sheds the first details of the forthcoming series revival on the 3DS.
Shinobi 3DS will be a 2.5D side-scroller much like the classic games - go from left to right using your sword to break through an onslaught of enemies. It's not all about your katana as there'll be throwing knives and magic. Combos, wall jumping and grappling hooks are all your favourite ninja-esque mechanics helping your warrior explore, attack and evade the most deadly foes. You can even ride a horse through a forest!
The 3DS tale begins in Oboro Village, a peaceful town suddenly attacked by a mysterious enemy. Temples burn and you must combat fellow ninjas, samurai against the burning backdrop. Sail down a river, ascend a waterfall, wander into caves, climb treacherous mountains and finally battle a female warrior - all within the opening minutes!
Breaking up the action there'll be a 3D throwing star minigame. Bonus content and StreetPass will also be available.
Original Story:
The project was unearthed in a recent resume from environmental artist Branden Brushett, who works for Griptonite Games. Brushett "created whole levels for 'Shinobi' on the Nintendo 3DS, including many props for use in a variety of environments."
Since then the cover for the forthcoming Nintendo Power magazine mentions Shinobi alongside Mega Man Legends 3 as part of a "Revivals" feature, with a trailer "leaked" earlier today.
It appears to be an internal cut that's unfinished and just as it gets into the 3DS reveal it conveniently cuts off. SEGA refuses to comment, but promises something more official soon.
All we know for now from Brushett is that the new Shinobi will feature "hand painted and photo referenced textures".
Shinobi was once considered the Ninja action game, spawning multiple versions and even touched down with The Revenge of Shinobi for GameBoy Advance back in 2002.
