The Box Behind Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Capcom has posted the final boxart for upcoming Resident Evil side-shooter for 3DS, The Mercenaries 3D.

The scene depicts poor Chris Redfield being bombarded by a rather happy chap known as the Executioner, who's wielding an unsightly axe. Presumably to make cake or cut up cookies, but we'll let Chris find out the hard way.

The revamped mini-game is finding full retail rights on the 3DS, complete with full 3D gameplay, the ability to run and shoot, plus a whole cast of familiar faces to combat the undead.

Without further adieu, the boxart for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D:

I really like the look of it but I'd prefer if they showed something along the line of what they have on the official website.

I still think they should have released such a game as 3DSWare. A bonus mode from a game made into a full retail game mustn't make for a much valuable content.

I'm not at all for de-materialized games, but that type of game isn't suited for a full-price retail release either IMHO.

It looks nice. I'm eager to know how many maps the final game will feature.

Shift and shoot would be a better term to use, thankfully, you can't run and shoot.

So the Nintendo3DS logo will be on the right side of boxes now instead of the left?

I'm guessing it's to further differentiate it from original DS boxes. Perhaps incase a few simple people pick up a a 3DS game for their DS. You just know that would happen.

I'm sure (from my limited "research") that many people think the 3DS is just another incremental upgrade. Nintendo would be wise to do more differentiation in my opinion. Many "casuals" think it is just a 3D DS.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

That boxart makes the game seem more exciting than it really is. I'm used to mercenaries being a bonus mode in my last two RE purchases so I'll be skipping this until it goes waaaaay down in price.

I'm more excited about this than Revelations tbh xD

Previous incarnations have little to do with this new product. RE:M is going to be a feature rich MP game bursting with content, unlike previous versions.
