Nintendo's Satoru Iwata talked about various anniversaries this year. Iwata-san, speaking at the investor briefing in Japan that took place today, made a point of mentioning how various long-running series will see key anniversaries this year.
During his presentation, he touched upon how it is the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda and Square Enix's Dragon Quest, whilst it is also the 15th Anniversary of Pokémon. With regards to Link's adventures, it was confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is in the final stages of the development process, but will likely not hit retail until The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D lands on 3DS. Of course, there is also the downloadable version of the The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening due on the 3DS eStore as well this year. Can there be any more Zelda love for its landmark anniversary?
As for Dragon Quest and Pokémon, the former will see the Dragon Quest VI remake hit DS in the US this February, whilst Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional lands in Japan very soon. Whether or not Dragon Quest X on Wii will arrive as well is currently unknown. Many have been hoping for a MotionPlus-enabled Dragon Quest Swords 2, but that is merely a dream...The latter, multi-million selling series will see Pokémon Black/White arrive in Europe and the US in a month or so, with Japan getting Pokémon Typing and its special Bluetooth keyboard. Iwata-san also commented on how there are other projects in that series currently in the works for DS, Wii and 3DS, meaning fans will have a lot to look forward to this year. It also pretty much confirms the talk that arose recently of a new Pokémon Stadium-style release for Wii.
What would you like to see for the Legend of Zelda, Pokémon and Dragon Quest anniversary projects?
