Cubed3 attended a special event where Yuji Naka was promoting Ivy the Kiwi? on Wii and DS. Following a brief presentation on the game that failed to make any impression in the Japanese charts and reportedly only sold three figures in the first month in the US, Naka-san fielded a pre-set list of questions from the presenter, covering various topics, which included key points such as how he was the supposedly the brains behind the smash hit Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, even taking the idea directly to Nintendo, despite the fact that he had left SEGA long before the game's release. "I thought it would be fascinating to see the two heroes play together or play against each other, so that was exactly what I wanted."
He also went on to say that the recently released PlayStation Move and Microsoft Kinect pieces of technology are something he and his team have tested out, with games being built for them...but shelved. He still has hopes for supporting new technology, though: "Yes I'm very much excited about the new technologies. I'm hoping I can create something exciting using those new technologies. Actually, I worked on two games that unfortunately didn't come out and those two games used those two technologies you just mentioned."
Other than that, the only extra pertinent point was how he does not want to work on any sequels, even when a fan in the audience asked about Burning Rangers possibly being revived. Ignoring the game mentioned, he stated how people shouldn't expect him to work on Ivy sequels or even a new NiGHTS.
Expect more coverage of the event soon, including a quick interview with Naka-san himself.
