Tales of the Abyss Coming to 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Bandai Namco has confirmed that its PlayStation 2 RPG, Tales of the Abyss, will be getting an upgraded port across to Nintendo's 3DS portable.  Originally rumoured to be coming to the GameCube, Tales of the Abyss has been considered for a port/remake for some time now, with Bandai Namco mentioning it not once, but twice to Cubed3 in the past two or so years.  Finally the developer has decided that instead of testing it out on the PlayStation Portable, as it has done with previous old Tales games (to varied success in Japan), Nintendo's 3DS is the way to go.  No time frame has been confirmed, but a launch window release would be ideal for the sake of riding the early hype train and shaking off the low sales trend of recent releases in the once extremely successful RPG franchise.

Additionally, Bandai Namco is also committing to 3DS with Ace Combat 3D and Pro Baseball Famista 2011, Konami has Asphalt 3D, Project Love Plus, Pro baseball Spirits and Winning Eleven coming to 3DS, alongside Leap Out! Puzzle Bobble from Square Enix.

Yes, yes, yes! Loving the additional support! Keep it coming!!!

They're finally releasing a new Tales game on a Nintendo system? I wonder if it will come to the west? I hope so, if not I will be sad.

OH MY GOD.

This will never leave Japan.

It might if it sells well. There could be a chance. Just have positive thoughts. Or you could just import it.

Depends on if it's region locked.

Namco have said they're not going to be localising Tales games anymore.

This Tales game might still be released in the West... If it gets support from Nintendo for publishing like they did Phantasia on GBA and Symphonia on GameCube (though not as much as for the GBA).

Plus there's already an English translation for it because it was released in America on the PS2.

OH MY GOSH,I nearly jumped out of my seat when I read this. Tales of the Abyss is my favorite and I believe the best tales game in the series. Today is a good day and will turn into an expensive time period come next year. Unfortunately I must agree with SuperLink that this will stay in Japan Smilie
