Bandai Namco has confirmed that its PlayStation 2 RPG, Tales of the Abyss, will be getting an upgraded port across to Nintendo's 3DS portable. Originally rumoured to be coming to the GameCube, Tales of the Abyss has been considered for a port/remake for some time now, with Bandai Namco mentioning it not once, but twice to Cubed3 in the past two or so years. Finally the developer has decided that instead of testing it out on the PlayStation Portable, as it has done with previous old Tales games (to varied success in Japan), Nintendo's 3DS is the way to go. No time frame has been confirmed, but a launch window release would be ideal for the sake of riding the early hype train and shaking off the low sales trend of recent releases in the once extremely successful RPG franchise.
Additionally, Bandai Namco is also committing to 3DS with Ace Combat 3D and Pro Baseball Famista 2011, Konami has Asphalt 3D, Project Love Plus, Pro baseball Spirits and Winning Eleven coming to 3DS, alongside Leap Out! Puzzle Bobble from Square Enix.
