E310 Media | Kirby's Epic Yarn Revealed

E310 Media | Kirby

Masahiro Sakurai's beloved pink blob is back. During their 2010 E3 press conference, Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime revealed an all-new, Wii-exclusive side-scrolling platformer starring Kirby, entitled Kirby's Epic Yarn.

The debut gameplay trailer for Kirby's first new home console title in years shows a visual style reminiscent of a vast patchwork quilt. In fact, Kirby can be seen manipulating the environment around him with yarn/thread thrust about like a whip.

No Kirby game would be complete without crazy transformations, though, and Kirby's Epic Yarn looks set to deliver. The trailer (embedded below) shows Kirby transforming into a speedy little car, a hovering spaceship, and a massive tank that fills the screen.

Kirby's Epic Yarn will support two-player cooperative play and is slated to launch in the Fall of 2010. Check out the game's debut gameplay trailer and a wide array of screenshots below:

Loved the artstyle, I had a feeling we were going to see a new Kirby today

Much better than the bland 3D stuff that has been floating around for a while now.

Kirby's Epic Yarn won E3 for Nintendo for me. It is just so imaginative, you won't see that from the HD Consoles.

Currently Playing: Super Mario Galaxy, Wario Land: Shake It, A Boy and His Blob, Little King Story Pre-Ordered: Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M

I am so impressed by the art style. This Kirby looks so creative. I just hope the game play is still fast paced like the others.

"Do a Barrel Roll!"

Very different product for what started to be the next big Kirby game, but the ending result is just beautiful. Glad it made this transition.

Little big planet is the closest rival. But that trailer was genius, so creative

2-player co-op! Brilliant, love multiplayer co-op. Smilie Expecting to have lots of fun with this. ^_^

This was simply my favourite game announced a Nintendo's conference. It simply looks amazing and the concept is extremely cool. I can't wait to see more of it.

So I don't get it. Is it a YARN or an EPIC?

It requires great courage to look at oneself honestly, and forge one's own path.

I'm very happy with the transition too. It went from being a generic 3D game to a game with a style that Kirby is known for, artistic weirdness.

Looks bloody fantastic Smilie Although I bet we won't get it in Europe for forever...

The first game of the conference that amazed me.

The art style immediately made me think of Yoshi's Story. Would love to have that game in this upgraded style.

Looks very good and another innovative title from Nintendo.

The game looks exactly how the title states... EPIC. Can't wait for this one. Smilie Very weird and interesting art styles FTW.

Just found out this game is codeveloped by Good-Feel who worked on Warioland, which was a great platformer and had awesome anime graphics. Looking forward to Kirby even more now
