New Legend of Zelda Wii Rumours on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

With the first public glimpse at the new Legend of Zelda game for Wii bound for this year’s E3 Expo, rumours have started to flood in.

Previous titles in the series had trailers, screenshots and artwork shown at key events, namely E3 and GDC. Aside from a single piece of concept art, little is known about Miyamoto and co's latest Zelda chapter. That said, it hasn't stopped sites like the notorious 2ch from posting unconfirmed facts about the game, including tidbits about time travel and weapon use.

The following is unconfirmed and may be considered spoiler.

What do you think about the latest batch of rumours - does this sound like your ideal Zelda adventure?

I'm hoping the cutting back on weapons part is true - a lot of emphasis has been lost on the swordplay, IMO!

To clarify about the pic I posted- it was a mockup created by Zelda Informer.

As for the story, I don't care about it (so I'll be happy no matter what happens) but I really, really want a more fun combat. That means somewhat difficult. My 3 favorite things about the Zelda series are exploring the environments, the good dialogue (doesn't have to be plot related), and the combat.

PMD - You said that you found that image on another forum, may I know which?

As far as conversation goes, I agree that other characters at least should be voiced. In some Bioware games, your character has conversation options, but you don't actually hear the character say them (if you're unfamiliar with Knights of the Old Republic or Dragon Age, here's an example: *click*).

In the Half Life series, Gordon Freeman doesn't talk at all, but the other characters talk plenty (if you're unfamiliar with Half Life, here's where you can find an example: *click*).

I'd like to see Zelda games shook up. I've always wanted to get into them but never really could (I've played OoT, Oracle of Seasons, Link's Awakening, and Four Swords. I've only ever beat Oracle of Seasons). I always thought I never liked the dungeon formula and then having to run back and forth because I found a new item that I can trade for a password to get me into a building to find the key that unlock the entrance to new place. I'm not drawn in so I find the process very fatiguing and I don't want to play anymore.

And I also think that the Zelda universe could use a deep engaging story.

wouldn't mind seeing either online quests like monster hunter tri or online arena where you battle other players.

I think the next Zelda game is crying out for an epic orchestral score. I would love to finally have voice acting aswell (not Link), to help us connect better with the characters. I just think those two things happening would take it to another level.

Smilie

Hm, some of those rumors seem to be pulled from bits of interviews (like flying and going instantly from dungeon to dungeon)...
The other stuff is pretty much what ever Zelda fan wants.
